Watergate family member Matthias Meyer returns with his first original material in more than a year, teaming up with rising Dutch talent Budakid for a debut collaboration. 

Meyer’s contributions to Watergate’s imprint are never short of supreme; from his link-ups with Ryan Davis ‘Love Letters to Sicily’ and ‘Crying June / Cafuné’, to his beloved Watergate 20 mix, the artist has a sublime talent for crafting uniquely emotional music minus the clichés. Having launched his own label Strangely Enough in early 2020, he’s output is notoriously measured, never one to rush the creative process. The link-up with Budakid – who first debuted on the label last summer with the beautiful ‘Orrery’ on ‘Watergate Affairs 04’ – is inspired. The Dutchman previously caught ears with quality cuts on Lost & Found, Disco Halal and Last Night on Earth and has been on the Oberbaumbrücke radar ever since he played the ‘Thursdate’ party in 2019 for Einmusika.

‘Sweet Ease’ is a straight-up hit, driven by a retro-tinged synth that nail both sentimentality and originality in the space of six-and-a-half minutes. ‘Hybrid Society’ is its gentler companion, made for late moments, as swirls of melody twinkle in the air. No surprise both tracks went down a treat when played at Watergate’s recent open-air parties at Sage Beach.

Motip White continued to chart his own course on his return to XYZ with the Long Shadow EP earlier this year. The Cologne-based producer has never settled for the predictable norm, working his way through projects from all corners of the musical landscape on his eclectic journey. With releases on the likes of Innervisions & Correspondant, Motip's productions drip in analog tones & bespoke indie-punk influence.

Continuing the journey of Long Shadow, we welcome two riveting remixers to take the reins on Motip's original material.

Super Flu need no introduction, as this pair of melodic maestro's is one of the most influential acts in our modern scene. Whether as founders of the illustrious Monaberry, or through their releases with the likes of Stil Vor Talent & Disco Halal, its an honor to welcome Super Flu for their XYZ debut. They twist the title track Long Shadow into a low slung bomb, retaining Motip's jaw dropping vocal chops and the main heaving hook. Super Flu add a linear edge, shifting deep into club territory with defiant dance floor moments on offer.

On the flip, we welcome back a dear friend of the label - Montreal's Dexter Crowe. As a founding member of XYZ, we're beyond thrilled to have Crowe in the driver's seat for Motip's instant classic - Tiny House. The Halaken-head soothes a steaming bassline into a sultry and crisp burner. The Aussie punctuates the original's ominous melodies, while mobilizing momentum via metallic synth-work during an emphatic. With the OG mix already a constant tool for the likes of Dixon and  me, Dexter's remix continues to raise the bar for Tiny House.

Number twenty-one on San Francisco’s Manjumasi is the Titans EP from renowned Australian producer Jamie Stevens. With well over twenty years production experience under his belt, notably as a founding member of Infusion, Jamie brings a uniquely detailed and sophisticated flair to each of his productions. The two originals on this EP are no exception. Lead track Titans balances many layers of clever melodic synth-work over a rock-solid and pleasantly punctuated bass groove. This is followed up by Blush, a moodier piece built around a gentle but insistent crescendo of brass harmonies, evoking an open and expansive sonic space.

First up on remix duty are Bristol duo dubspeeka. Their interpretation of Titans repurposes the track’s core materials, crafting a supremely sturdy late-night number with heady, whirling percussion and a darker edge. Next up, Peruvian producer Luis Leon transforms Blush with a mix that dials up the nuance and sensuality, bringing the track’s deep and delicate elements into focus, with the result being a highly alluring auditory collage. Finally, Manjumasi’s own Naveen G turns in his own take on Titans, a driving dancefloor take with no shortage of punch, deep bass, and a gritty modern progressive tone on the lead melodies that will keep this track pushing the dancefloor forwards.

Biography of Martin HERRS:

Born in Spain, with special interest in music since early age and using different aliases for moment of his life, he started releasing music in 2019, and previously in 2015 he started his training at the music school in Cadiz to prepare himself as a musician, shortly after that he has released and is releasing music on labels such as Diynamic, Bedrock Records, Mobilee, Monaberry, MoBlack, Sincopat, Borders of light, Selador, Buttress, Global Underground, Secret Fusion among other future releases of great renown.
In 2019 he decided to start his career as a producer creating a fusion of avant-garde and indigenous percussions, giving a great sense to the dancefloor, Martin HERRS has always been in continuous training and updating, absorbing new trends and always keeping the pulse of electronic music.
His first steps in 2020 were very important for Martin HERRS, getting remixed and doing collaborations with artists like Ivory, Thodoris Triantafillou, Murat Uncuoglu, INVŌKER and EdOne, being able to fully enter the electronic music scene.
In 2021, he made a big step with his EP "Humalogy" which reached top 10 sales for months and was played and charted by more than 400 artists, this track called "Humalogy" was released on Mobilee Records and reached Top 3 on Indie Dance Chart on Beatport. This track had a huge reach and was played by some artists like Dixon, Solomun, Maceo Plex, John Digweed, Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, Jimi jules, Dave Seaman, Rodriguez Jr, Toto Chiavetta among others.
Martin HERRS is currently in the top 20 in beatport sales, sharing the chart with Bicep, Moderat, Bonobo, Moby or Four Tet. His release "Do We Love Each Other EP" was a huge success and stayed in the top 10 for months. Artists like Solomun or John Digweed rely on his music for their respective labels. Thanks to his music and the continuous support of many top artists he has had the opportunity to make appearances with world class labels. Without a doubt he is an artist to take into account.
One of his projects is ANNUNA MUSIC, dedicated to the release of independent music based in Ibiza. Martin HERRS is also involved in binaural music, belonging to the Spanish group INTERMEZZO Music Project.
Annuna is consolidating itself within the electronic scene by releasing independent artists with high standards providing a sensory experience for the ears.
