This time around we’re more than pleased to welcome the Ukrainian artist to the series. 

With releases on BITE, Flash, Standard Deviation and performances across Berghain, Tresor, RSO and Nuits Sonores, GAEL continues to work within the scene with a style of Techno that is deeply expressive, electric and alive.

For this one, I’m bringing in GAEL, an artist whose sound fits the Renegade Sessions spirit perfectly. Raw, tense and straight to the point. No gloss, no compromise. There’s a certain weight and tension in GAEL’s music that I connect with naturally. It’s dark, it’s physical and stripped of anything unnecessary.
I first came across GAEL through the ‘Frozen White Horse’  release on BITE, which left a strong impression on me. So I was curious to hear what kind of mix would come out of this session.
What you get here is exactly what I hoped for. Driven selections that hit hard but still hold focus towards a deeper path.
This is proper Renegade Sessions material through and through."

When Stephen Hitchell released The Seduction of Silence in 2009 under his Intrusion alias, the double-CD immediately established itself as a landmark in the dub techno continuum. Across deep, glacial chords, cavernous bass and hypnotic atmospheres, Hitchell expanded the Berlin/Detroit lineage into something spiritual and introspective – a meditative art form rooted in emotion, texture and stillness rather than club-function alone.

Sixteen years on, The Seduction of Silence returns in its most definitive form, with both Part 1 and Part 2 now finally available on vinyl for the first time. Remastered and cut by Stefan Betke (POLE), the records unlock new depth and dimensionality, offering a fully immersive experience for both longstanding admirers and new listeners.

Part 1 traces the genesis of Intrusion, sparked by Hitchell’s rediscovery of a Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 sampler containing fragments of his ’90s experiments. Revived during a period of transition – long hours in record distribution, a move to Chicago’s lakeside, impending fatherhood – those sounds became the foundation for weighty yet introspective dub, heard vividly in Montego Bay and Intrusion Dub.

Part 2 carries a more expansive, improvisational feel, influenced by the late Phillip C. Hertz, Hitchell’s colleague at Crosstalk Distribution. Recorded through live jams and experimental sessions, this chapter drifts into deeper ambient-dub territory, paying tribute to collaboration, community and the fluidity of sound.

Together, both parts form a deeply personal document of life, art and devotion to sound. Alongside this feature, Hitchell shares a live recording from his New York debut at Public Records in July 2025, hosted by Zen/Echo – an intimate Intrusion performance in full analog drift.

It’s back to the strange, mind-expanding world of Zenaari with an episode from Moroccan techno master Chami. Leaving his homeland for France was an epiphany, Lyon the place where his passion for beats kicked-off. Since then, he’s relocated to Berlin and become synonymous with a clean, rhythmic and mentally-focused sound played exclusively on vinyl. It’s raw and unforgiving techno primed for body and soul, Berlin to the letter and a constant dialogue with the city’s ever-changing zeitgeist. Foregrounding burgeoning talents through his and Olivia Mendez’s DIG Curated, playing as half of Face 2 Face with DJ peer OPH, and key figure in Berlin-based collective Minijob (whose calling is in organising underground raves in and around the city), Chami’s plate is more than full. But it’s passion for sound that drives him, visceral basslines his bread and butter. Breaking with the expected, there’s a further facet to his sound, one that occupies the focus of this next Zenaari number: jazz. Not quite as far as it might superficially seem, Chami’s feeling for rhythm and knack for progressively stacked up moods translates flawlessly, but if it helps there’s a few warped percussions to move things along. This is an expert fusion of his musical universe, a Podcast that probes the possibilities offered by the superimposition of these two sonic languages and develops something new in response. Two sides of a coin: Chami’s slamming beats and soothing jazz are a window onto the spectrum of his talents, 68 minutes of compelling sounds from a Berlin mainstay.
