We are delighted to present you the first opus of 2024 and also the new V/A from the Accents Records catalog, ACCENTVA008 will be released for this new spring!
This season, synonymous with life and renewal, is the perfect time to launch this new opus in the ACCENTVA series, a deliberately eclectic and inclusive review of current developments on the electronic music scene. With a more generous format than ever before, it makes room for both well-known label producers and pioneering artists whose work criss-crosses the world with their unique and immediately identifiable sound. Thirty artists have responded to the invitation and are brought together here to give us a glimpse into the prism of contemporary musical creation. Nor are there any presupposed and therefore definitive barriers of genre or style, On the contrary, the contours here are intended to be voluntarily porous and slippery, each track being interconnected with another, or at least echoing what we might call the zeitgeist.

Setting the tone with the swarming bee synths of “Overdose”, a hivemind of its own with an end-of-the-world feeling to it, to proceed into “PWM Break”, breakneck speeds and tossed drumwork, yet permanently drenched ethereal silk-like pads.

Equal parts heavyweight and light as a feather, “Raver’s Delight” does what it says on the tin, with Reese bass thick enough to drown you on the dancefloor, culminating with “Rush”, a swung break stomper guaranteed to break hearts and subwoofers.

Our brain works better when listening and the stimulation of frequencies inspire new ideas. They give us visions of the future and memories from the past become more clear. It replenishes our spirit and keeps us young.

Darkduction, artist and sound explorer, delivers in Unnatural Versions 017 a unique experience: a 100% improvised Live where ambient, experimental and textures are the core of the sound narrative. This episode represents a deep exploration of spontaneity in music, an invitation to dive into a space where sound develops organically, without predefined structures or fixed patterns.

From the first moments, the set envelops us in a dense and enveloping atmosphere, where each sound layer is woven in real time. Unlike a conventional session, here there are no pre-rehearsals or set sequences, just a pure connection with the moment, allowing the sounds to flow freely and find their own form. The absence of a rigid framework gives way to unrestricted exploration, where each sound becomes a living element that evolves and transforms as the set progresses.

The use of textures plays a crucial role in this release, with layers of noise, fuzzy harmonies and spatial effects that generate a feeling of total immersion. Darkduction manages to build a sonic universe in which the perception of time is distorted, guiding us through changing soundscapes that invite introspection and sensory discovery. Number 028 is for AR&VU, the collaborative live project of Arthur Robert (Reduktion) and Vela Uniform. While maybe unknown to some of you, they already received recognition by some of the greatest in the scene. Arthur Robert's productions get support by DVS1, and Vela Uniform's debut EP will be released on Freddy K's KEY Vinyl, including a collaboration with none other than Blawan. For our podcast they recorded a live studio session, to show what they're capable of and why they deserve more recognition.
