I bought a Pioneer ddj-sx controller 3 weeks ago and after 3 weeks of ownership discovered the "record" function. Of course, this means also that it's more than probably prudent for me to have a read of the instruction manual....

So last saturday night I wandered down to The Welcome Hotel in Rozelle to watch the Brumbies v Chiefs game, and had a few beers. 8 schooners in fact. Stout: Batch Brewing's Elsie The Milk Stout (Sydney), and Moo Brew's Velvet Sledgehammer (Hobart). I don't normally drink stout but it IS winter. I was fine until it was time to get off my stool and carry my sorry arse back up the hill home. I walked - staggered really, practically hallucinating  - in and had to pass my DJ gear in the lounge room; it was a genuine "Hello Baby" moment. 

And this is the result: just over an hour of dancing around my brothers house like the pissed idiot I was, stopping occasionally to mix another tune. The mix really shows my long standing - often falling over in this case - fascination with Giom productions. Enjoy!

19th July - Wasted......

Got back to Mala's last night, and she was celebrating her birthday. Out came the tunes, and this was the result. Enjoy!

No work today as I was resting my rolled ankle, and I visited my mate Mostafa and his wonderful family in Kurnell. Tree pumpkins! The day afforded me the opportunity to have a bit of a practice mix on the DDJ-SX. The record levels are a bit hot in places (I'm tearing my hair out on that one) and so are the tunes, which kinda makes up for it. Enjoy!

Saturday 14th November Practice

I came down to Lennox Head last night to visit my friends Chad and Emma. Lovely people, lovely spot. Whilst the BBQ was cooking I set up the decks and whipped up a little something too! This is a pretty good reflection of the tunes I'm playing once a month at Cocoon in Surfers Paradise.

Its a beautiful thing.
I was asked to create some mixes for my mate Tony's club LOVE NIGHTLIFE in Broadbeach QLD where he had been experimenting with opening early to compensate for the lockout laws imposed by the government. He renovated a section of the club and launched it as "Flower Addict" (a high end Gin Bar). After the first weekend I called him to ask how it went, and his reply was "It was really good, your mixes were great; but I reckon you should play."
7-10 pm, every Friday and Saturday in this amazing little space I'm punching out some awesome house music. The room is great, the staff are awesome, the volume is perfect (a big thing in QLD), and I've got carte blanche to play the BEST tunes around.
And this is the first mix I did for Flower Addict. Enjoy!

On 5th March 2000 at 7am we recorded the second instalment of "The Best of Downstairs at Dreamtime", showcasing the hits from a weekly Sunday morning recovery session. Starting at 5am, the downstairs section of Dreamers Nightclub provided the perfect foil to the manic happenings upstairs. Around 10am upstairs would close, and house music mayhem would ensue until midday or later. Oh what fun we had!!!

I really enjoy playing at Cherry Bar. Its at The Star Casino Broadbeach, and the bar is adjacent the main gaming floor. The first time I played here I quickly became aware  that my music was being piped all over the main casino area. 

Consequently when I play - the punters and I - we get down for a boogie. Whilst I'm playing to the folks in this really great cocktail bar, I love watching the punters and staff on the main floor tap their toes....

Paul Hodder passed away 7th Dec 2019; I dedicate this mix to him. Paul was one of the founders of Australia's early dance scene, and had a knack of bringing people together and getting the best out of them. He knew Where Love Lives - on a dancefloor... RIP.
