James Brown for me is the biggest influence in my career!
The first record I ever owned was A James Brown 7”  on People Records "Breakin Bread".

I started collecting all things James Brown related and simply became obsessed with the JB groove. He really was an incredible character but unfortunately passed away in 2006 on Christmas Day, so I felt this was the perfect time to pay tribute to the Godfather of Soul & Funk. This mix encompasses a mixture of James Brown and his Funky People: Fred Wesley, Marva Whitney, Lyn Collins, Hank Ballard, Maceo Parker, The JB’s and more. Without doubt the hardest working man in show business, he toured the world constantly with his band and dancers, performed to millions bringing the Funk to the masses. Who would think back in the 60’s & 70’s that his music would be sampled and be the backbone of Hip Hop,music. The influence his music has had on so many peoples lives is extraordinary and without James Brown and his Funky people I don’t think Hip Hop and even Dance music would be the same. Thank you James RIP the original Funk Soul Brother!

Since getting his start in Vancouver over 25 years ago while crafting his signature funky sound and layered mixing Marty has carved out an admirable resume in a scene that he loves to give back and contribute to. He has been featured 3 times on DJ Dan's legendary Stereo Damage Podcast and has opened for a slew of legends including DJ Dan, A. Skillz, Krafty Kuts, Mr. Switch, Deekline, DJ Brace, Tommy Largo, Neon Steve, Funkanomics, Slynk, Featurecast, Basement Freaks as well as opening for Stickybuds numerous times in Nelson BC, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. His festival resume runs deep with multiple bookings at Shindig Festival (UK), Fozzy Fest, Astral Harvest,  Vibrant Music Festival, Bass in the Bush, Moab Utah Pride, Vancouver Pride, Edmonton Pride and the Disco Den in Wichita.  Marty has been a part of the LEMF crew here in Lethbridge since it's inception in 2012 and is current chair of the organizing committee. Marty is also the founder of LEMF Events which creates diverse events for the LGBTQ+ community year round while creating space for local artists with a strong eye towards community.
