Here is what I made on thr 2nd day of #21DaysOfVGM

I didn't go into this thinking of a theme in particular but in reflection I reckon this could be used as piece that follows after an emotional stand off or a pivotal moment in a story. Or even like an emotional boss fight theme perhaps? Suggestions are welcomed!

So to started writing this piece around Tillian's volca melody from the first break of 'Midnight Crusade' by Dance Gavin Dance then ideas came after that.
I'm super happy with this one despite it taking me nearly 3x longer to write than yesterday's tune.
There's one part in this that reminds me of a section from 'Star Shape' from Shadow Hearts (i love that game!) lol

Day 2 - Convexed Stalemate

Day 4 of #21DaysOfVGM here we go!

Finally!
This one took nearly the whole day to do!
Started at midday, now uploaded at quarter to 9PM!
This is me proudly presenting a battle theme/storm the castle kinda vibe with a post hardcore edge!

I ended up writing an interesting section where there's 3 key changes in a middle section and also writing in different time signatures is something I've wanted to get round to doing in this challenge!
In reflection, this kinda has similarity to a song from a Atelier song I've heard before and also a bit of 'The Landing' influence from Final Fantasy VIII there as well.
The title is a reference to a song by The Smiths called 'A Rush and A Push and The Land Is Ours.

Day 4 - It Was Ours Before, And It Shall Be Again!

Today, I had a go at composing a mini-boss theme encounter kind of thing.
The struggle is starting to set in hahaha
Had a little trouble figuring out what to include in that middle section where eventually I went with a synth.
It shows that trial and error really does work in your favor in some cases with some of the tunes you write.
This is an obvious nod to ya boi Nobuo Uematsu and tried to keep the instrumentation to a minimum but left the repetition and time signature be the aggressors in this composition to convey that boss theme vibe.

Day 8 - Ab Etana, The Visual Sculpture

Today, I went with the 'Guitarland' quest log but thought to add a little bass synth in there just to soak up the atmosssss!
Used a 12-string guitar sound too which adds a more folky lilt to it.
Might work on this at a later date to really authenticate the guitars with real instrumentation.
Had fun with reverbs here too!

Day 10 - Traverse The Valley

Today, I went for a forest stage in a fighting game and this was the result.
Could also be a upbeat tropical dungeon for an RPG type game.
Went with some polyrhythmic textures here and some funky slap bass.
Particularly happy with the melody in the second half.
I Wanna come back to this one at a later date cus it feels like it could continue onto another section afterwards.

Day 12 - The Tranquility Of Battle

Today, I messed around with a string pad instrument thing I thought I got rid of on my phone and came up with this small string arrangementand transposed it into the better string instruments I got for my DAW.
Here I imagine this could be used for when the antogonist has the upper hand and causes chaos on like a nearby village and rekt dem up fam.

I was busy today so had little time to compose another mini boss theme and also learn how to write chiptune so I came up with a very bare minimum track that'll be worked on more at a later date.
I called it New Born because this is my first ever time trying to write a chiptune track.

Today, I tackled the 'John Williams' quest log, writing a theme for a young main protaganist finding their purpose and beginning their epic adventure!
I also took note of the tip from yesterday's email from VGMA by writing the melody first and composing harmony around the melody.
I thought it wouldn't be useful but it turned out useful to make chord modulation more interesting, will apply this in more works!
This was meant to be for a full orchestra but I hit a wall so this is what it is for now.

Today I did a moody piano piece thing.
Wanted to experiment with arranging a piece for piano since I'm primarily a guitarist.
Threw in a vibe in the second half to give it intrigue.
Dunno what I themed it after, maybe a bored vampire? lol

Today, I wrote a post-hardcore inspired battle theme between two lovers. 
I'm gutted I had to leave it where it ends cus I REALLY want to continue this one but don't wanna burn out in the process!
So definitely gonna come back to this one!

Today, we got concept art to help inspire some tunage.
Looking at this picture, I made this piece.
Had fun with this one despite being suuuuuuper tired from working overtime but I soldiered on!

Day 18 - We Lay In A State Of Catatonia

Today, I decided to tackle a specific thing I've wanted to try and compose for a long time. A village/town theme!
I'm really happy with this one, had a chilled day trying to figure out a good melody to go over this guitar part I came up with.
Kinda lost it at the end of the pizzicato melody but the core concept is here that could in hindsight be expanded upon instrumentation wise.

Day 19 - From The Rooftops

Today, I thought since tomorrow is the last day I would attempt to write a final boss theme today and do a victory theme tomorrow!
I kinda went super prog with this one, hitting it up with my flavor.
Waaaay more can be added to this, like I wanted to put more strings and brass in this and I'm not entirely happy with the main melody but a day's a day you know!

Success!
I managed to survive the 21DaysOfVGM challenge!
Here's a rough victory fanfare to celebrate the final day of the challenge!
Well done and congrats to everyone who continued to compose something everyday in this hot weather!
Met a bunch of talented composers during this challenge and it's been a blast to work my chops here and test my skill!
