"Do Me Right"

A vast number of artists struggle to establish their musical identity, consistently trying different musical styles hoping to find a style that fits. However, there are others, in full understanding of their craftsmanship, their identity and their music. Marxus fits firmly in the latter category. His new record, “X”, is a enchanting and seductive debut that signs the arrival of a gifted and significant new talent, one whose music feels common in the best possible way, while making its own space.

A city kid who grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in a single parent home Marxus sang songs as a child to take his mind off of his surroundings, but didn’t take music seriously until he was in his early 20’s. He explains, “I started writing songs in my head, and listening to genres of music like jazz, blues, rhythm and blues, it took my interest in music to another level. “I wasn’t interested in anything other than music”. Marxus has performed with The Milwaukee Symphony, appeared on R&B Live a local talent showcase and it’s only the beginning for him. Marxus currently is working on his upcoming album with the producer Branden “Wavie Boi” Washington & Terry Harris Jr.
