Stillness isn't absence, it's memory frozen in motion, a spiral suspended in velvety air. Echoes return with form and warmth, transforming silence into presence. Dreams leave residue in reverse, and names become breath, refracted. Somewhere between static and radiance, emotion is reproduced not to be understood, but to be felt again, ever softer.

This album was recorded over the span of a month – a month full of especially powerful dreams. The songs were recorded upon waking. It is an audio dream journal: a documentation of the feeling, and the emotion, of these dreams.

Jackson Lewis - Learning

Recorded around midnight in primary rainforest along the banks of the Sungai Muda river.  The sound appears to come from at least two individuals close to the microphones (one to the left and another in front or above) and at least two more in the far distance. I think it could be a Banded Langur (Presbytis femoralis) although I'm yet to find this call documented for this species. Dusky Langur (Trachypithecus obscurus) can also be heard in the background making alarm calls, and Pig-tailed Macaque were also present. Not sure what else it could be...!

The text is a mixture of Quechua, Spanish and Portuguese and our personal poetic freedom to have the words display the right sound needed for the atmosphere (spirit) of this icaro.

for ancient icaros it s difficult to find an owner of a song. let s say each generation gets the info from the cosmos and downloads the frequency again.  we ve learned this song from our Maestra Ema Drolma Mata who gave us the permission of spreading it again. we would like to excuse ourselves if we have missed out on other owners if this icaro. we would like to thank also Don José Campos for his inspiration. his version of this icaro came to our ears a bit later.
