International recording artist Masia One returns with a new single, 'Freedom', a collaboration with world renowned reggae artist Sizzla Kalonji.

Masia One worked with major Hip Hop artists such as The RZA, Pharrell, The Game and Talib Kweli on her last album, Bootleg Culture, released in September 2012. The producer of Bootleg Culture is none other than the Grammy Award winning Che Vicious of G.O.O.D. Music (he has also worked with Lauryn Hill, 50 Cent and a host of others). 

Masia One recently performed at Irie Music Festival (Toronto) & Under Pressure Festival (Montreal). She's soon heading to the West Coast for appearences at the Burning Man Festival and the Next Big Festival (Nevada).

Having been ensconced in the studio recording material for her new album ‘Far East Empress’, Singapore based Canadian Hip-hop x Dancehall star Masia One is pleased to announce details of a brand new track ‘Oh Na Na’, a Tropical Pop + Dancehall song about being in love with a Gyalis. (Gyalis is a Jamaican term for a playboy that has many lovers.)

She details the track: “Rather than songs about how someone broke your heart cause they cheated on you, I wanted to write a tune that called out the 2-timer for his bad habits and hurtful behaviour, declaring “I ain’t really about that” to the gyalis. As soon as I heard how catchy this beat was while recording at Japanese Bass crew Part2Style’s studio in the heart of Shibuya, I wanted to write more of a pop song to keep people singing along and celebrating music. I always like to work with lyrics that promote self-confidence and knowledge of self. Love can make and break us all, but sometimes you just gotta say “I ain’t really be about that”. Oh Na Na is the follow up single to Masia’s summer smash ‘Time Wastin’ and the message is empowering as the artist describes how she is not down to be disrespected, but admits toward the end of the song that she still has a soft spot or him.  The beat is produced by Tokyo Bass powered duo Part2Style, known for their signature “Future Ragga” sound. Together, Masia One and Part2Style’s Mal P and Nisi P, are the emergence of Asia’s next sound, influenced by Dancehall and Hip-hop but bringing their own unique and distinct flavour. This is a track forget all your troubles and dance to the infectious rhythm and Masia’s lyricism cleverly navigates through the tempo.

The lyrics entails a real situation that occurred on a tour where an artist sexually assaulted my assistant while on the road in Australia.  We hope this song will open conversations about sexual abuses and encourage us all to support survivors.
