Some points discussed during this Khutbah:

A warning against chasing the dunyā to the extent that our loving and hating revolves around it.

The fitnah of the dunyā being the greatest of our concerns and limit of our knowledge.

Āyāt wherein Allāh informs us of the reality of this dunyā.

Striving for our real home.

The evil of this dunyā and the state of confusion it causes us to be in.

The Messenger’s ﷺ command to fear the dunyā, and that which he feared for us.

The advice of the Messenger ﷺ to Ibn ‘Umar (رضى الله عنهما), and how he understood and acted upon it.

Yaḥyā b. Mu’ādh (رحمه الله) on the dunyā being the devil’s intoxicant and the only point at which the intoxicated one will regain consciousness.

Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “O mankind! Verily, the Promise of Allāh is true. So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allāh.” [Sūrah Faṭir 35:5]
