The Conditions, Pillars & Requirements of the Prayer

The Pillars of the Prayer are Fourteen.

The Third Pillar: A Continuation of the Breakdown of Sūrah al-Fātiḥah

– “Say, shall We inform you of the greatest losers with respect to their deeds?…” Sūrah al-Kahf 103–105
– “You will indeed follow the ways of those who came before you…” Ḥadīth
– “Indeed, the Jews split into seventy-one sects, and the Christians split into seventy-two sects, and my ummah will split into seventy-three sects…” Ḥadīth

– Ṣirāṭ – Straight Path – can mean Islām, the Messenger ﷺ, or the Qur’ān.

– ʿUlamāʾ always advise against resembling a people, based on the Ḥadīth of the Prophet ﷺ
– The Ḥadīth al-Iftirāq: “Indeed, the Jews split into seventy-one sects, and the Christians split into seventy-two sects, and my ummah will split into seventy-three sects…”
– The seventy-three sects refer to the main sects:
	•	The Shīʿah
	•	The Khawārij
	•	The Muʿtazilah
– Each one splits into many sects
– These deviant sects continue to grow – we now have more than 100 today
– “All of them are in the Hellfire except for one”
– “I have left you upon a clear path; no one deviates from it except that he is destroyed”
– How does one know if they are on the straight path and from the saved sect?
– What does the term Siyāsah (politics) actually mean and refer to?
– Examples to explain Siyāsah Islāmiyyah
– Using wisdom and knowing when to speak or act, and when to withhold

– A question regarding joining Maghrib and ʿIshāʾ prayers with the congregation
– A question regarding the permissibility of finishing the prayer before the Imām in congregation

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

- The darkness of fitan. 

- “And al-Fitnah is worse than killing.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:191]

- The reason fitnah is worse than killing.

- Some lines of poetry on the Qur’ān and Sunnah being a light in this dunyā.

- Fitan that will appear at the end of time, with proof from the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ:

1. The disappearance of knowledge and rise of ignorance.

2. Doubts and misguidance.

3. The emergence of fitnah and widespread killing.

4. The spread of usury and fornication.

5. The trials of wealth and poverty.

6. The increase of liars. 

7. Neglecting the trust.

8. Severing family ties.

9. Division amongst the Muslims. 

10. A believer will wish to run away to the hills due to widespread fitan. 

- The only protection we have from these trials.
