40 Ḥadīth—Lesson 43—Abū Idrees—05.09.25 

- Ḥadīth #12: Interest in the Beneficial 
- Explanation of Shaykh al-‘Uthaymīn (رحمه الله).
- The similarity between this ḥadīth and the ḥadīth, “Whoever believes in Allāh and the Last Day, let him speak goodness or else remain silent”.
- Benefits from the ḥadīth.
- Two words that encompass all the good qualities/virtues of Islām.
- A sign that a person has not attained excellence in his dīn.
- Consequences of a person busying himself with that which does not concern him.

- Consequences of unqualified individuals entering into affairs that do not concern them. 
- Knowing when to enter into an affair and when to refrain. 
- Reflecting upon this ḥadīth and adopting it as a methodology in our lives.
- Four points of benefit from imāms of the dīn: an-Nawawī, Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī, Ibn al-Qayyim and as-Sa’dī (رحمهم الله).

Text of the ḥadīth:

عن [أبي هريرةَ] رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مِنْ حُسْنِ إِسْلاَمِ الْمَرْءِ تَرْكُهُ مَا لاَ يَعْنِيهِ. حديثٌ حَسَنٌ رواه التِّرمذيُّ وغيرُه هكذا

From Abū Hurayrah(رضى الله عنه) who said, “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, "From the excellence of a man's Islām is his abandonment of that which does not concern him." [Related by Tirmidhī and others]
