This sonic odyssey is crafted by the label's Italian-born, Tokyo-resident founder, Al Jones, who masterfully synthesizes the sun-drenched euphoria of '90s Mediterranean sounds with the kaleidoscopic dynamism of his Japanese sojourn. From the futuristic synthscapes reminiscent of classic video games to the pulsating vocal tapestry of Shibuya Scramble Crossing, the world's most vibrant intersection, Al Jones distills disparate influences into a cohesive and compelling narrative. Herb Rhythm has long been kicking out brilliantly garage and house sounds and now he is back with something a little deeper on GLBDOM Classic. 'True' is a smooth and soulful garage house sound, but it's not overly produced - there are still some nice frayed edges to the drums while the vocal is an r&b gem. It comes in various mixes from bumping for the club to more cut-up and 2-step from Ease Up George. On the flip is the fresh dub garage delight 'So Many' with plenty of nostalgic throwbacks and liquid chords, then 'You Can Do It' closes with a more direct sound but still plenty of warming pads. A mighty useful EP, for sure.

'Kick It Off' begins with a heavyweight bump, trippy synth motifs and rigid rhythms that make you jerk your body in an 80s Chicago style. 'After Acid Hours' is another full body workout with wiggly 303s adding the energy and 'Ough Yeah' then gets snappy and sweaty with its fractured vocals and strobe-lit moods. 'Beat Body' shuts down with a more slamming technoid energy and rugged acid. Four stylish, fresh and destructive sounds.

This deep-digging compilation from Italian label Right Tempo offers a lovingly remastered sweep through jazz-inflected house from the decade between 1995 and 2005-a period where groove, musicianship and warmth reigned. The Daft Punk remix of I:Cube's 'Disco Cubizm' is an obvious highlight: clipped funk licks under elastic synths, reshaped with robotic swagger. The original mix rides smoother, more submerged. Josma's 'Voices Of Los Angeles' shimmers with Rhodes flourishes and disco flickers, while Mondo Grosso's 'Souffle H' (King Street Extended Club Mix) drives forward with crisp drums and brushed keys. Cricco Castelli's 'Life Is Changing' appears in two versions-both tightly arranged, with swung jazz-funk energy. Jo Boyer's 'Isabelle And The Rain', given a heady edit by Da Funkie Junkie & Cosmic Girl, closes the set with downtempo sparkle. Elegant, playable, and reissued with care.
