Detroit’s KING CHEETAH is here with his debut 12” for Light Body Works.  Growing up in the haze of late 90s Detroit record shopping brought about the inspiration for this record.

King Cheetah finds the appropriate space in between sounds and harmonies, rather than all the focus on the actual sounds, all while exercising a subtle rhythmic action that can be heard down the block.

KING CHEETAH - ENDURANCE [LBW 001]

Alex Warren, AKA Kiwi, debuts on Futureboogie for the label’s closing release of the year.  With previous releases on labels like Optimo Music, Blasé Boys Club and Sneaky Music, the versatile producer serves up four tracks of deep and driving underground goodies.

The London based producer/DJ has genre hopped with ease over the last few years, building up an impressive arsenal of productions and remixes.  He has been called upon to reshape for artists like The Klaxons, Duke Dumont and Bonar Bradberry, and his music has been warmly received and supported by Andrew Weatherall, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan and many more.

On his Futureboogie release, Kiwi blends energetic Italo styles on lead track ‘Orca’, whilst ‘Minke’ fuses gnarly technoid house with deft melodies and soft touches.  The spatial synths of ‘Logman’s Break’ create a highly infectious earworm of a track and the brass melodies freestyle over a sturdy production, whilst the closing ‘Pygmy’ gets spaced out with tweaking acid bass and moon stomping beats.

Freshly-minted Scottish label, Unit Two Records, scorches the 2018 underground dance scene with a certified scorcher of a V/A compilation titled Unit Traxx Vol 1. Unit Two turn heads and open ears for a colossal introduction to the space by compounding wide variety of talent featuring artists: Tilman, Lemin, Kerinnis, DJ Oakland, Ceòl, DJ Safeword, Togethrs, Tom Jarmey, Eoin R, Mark Blair, J Wax, Popka and 1-800 Girls. Marlborough-based producer, Tom Jarmey, brings his heterogeneous talent to the compilation with rave roller ‘Workout’. After releasing 2018 summer anthem with Beach Jazz, Tom Jarmey opts for an energetic stomper like a locomotive pummeling through the countryside. Tom uses cheeky piano lines and rolling metallic basslines like coupling rods on a train to simultaneously engine the track. Coupled with enraptured vocals and pulsating lows, ‘Workout’ is a dancefloor heat-check meant for pinnacle moments of the night.
