"The Time Is (Now) was written during an artist studio residency in the north of Montreal. It was Fall 2021, and after a quick moment of hope and few travels during that summer, we were back in the dark with no opening of clubs in sight and still in this heavy pandemic vibe.

This residency was a way for me to take control of what I could still control, productivity and creativity, instead of giving into dark thoughts and inertia. Armed with 2 synths (Prophet 6, Moog Grandmother) and computer, my goal was to write 1 track per day, no judgement. After 2 weeks, I realized I had a good base for my next album (more on that later) but I also had a few tracks that I thought could co-habitate on a dancefloor driven EP.
The title track was a tricky one. I worked on something all day and felt I wasn’t getting any breakthrough. After dinner, I went back to the studio and suddenly, something happened.

The track is based around this heavy disco beat and the 2 bass lines working together. The spoken word refers to this sense of urgency of trying to grab the bull by the horn. There’s a sense of darkness in it, but also hope. Especially at that mid part when the Rhodes come in to tell us everything is going to be alright. I guess this is something I always try to have in my music — A moment of hope/light. When I got back home, I replayed a few things on my instruments at home to make it sound more live and asked Laroye, a french producer living in the UK, to redo the percussion parts. The Dub and Reprise came naturally after that.

L’Horizon was an easier process, and I tried to fight the instinct of changing it too much when I got home to keep the vibe intact. It certainly doesn’t reinvent the wheel but it has a sort of classic charm, remininscent of late 90s Parisian House and also some of the music I made around the early 2000s. Big organ stabs and bass line, It’s full of clichés and I decided to run with it. Paintings closes things off with a more introspective vibe. Based around a chord memory progression from my Prophet, and a trusty conforting Moog square bass line, mixed in with some dreamy gospel like chants and textures. My version of an abstract painting."

Felipe has consistently blown us away over the years with releases on some of the best labels out there including Shall Not Fade, Razor N Tape, Toy Tonics and Norm Talley's Upstairs Asylum Recordings.

“Get Your Body Moving” is a dancefloor call to prayer featuring smooth vocals from Bob The Egoist set to a rocking beat, uplifting strings and a virtuosic flute solo. Title track “Timeless” sets the tone with a bumping bassline, gliding synth melodies and a quirky Deep House nature that reminds us of Glenn Underground at his best.

Kicking off the B-side is “Moving Results”. This is a jack-a-thon percussion workout with a 909 ride cymbal leading the charge, modulating and fluctuating hypnotically while electric piano chords form the backbone with a plucky bass riff. Finally, “Take It Away” brings swung Garage House percussion to the table, pairing them with soothing pads and atmospheres, vocal licks and those unreal Jazz-Funk style flute skills from earlier. It’s a release that gives us a real pleasure to be able to share Felipe’s unique and musical take on House with the world.

Belgian DJ and producer Gratts returns in superb Balearic fashion here with a new song he penned for his two young sons, Leo and Ziggy. 'Sun Circles' also makes the first release from new South Australia-based label Be Strong Be Free. It is dreamy house with gently breaking synth waves and majestic twinkling chords as well as some brilliantly sultry sax lines and vocals. The tune was recorded over the last year and a half in various studios with musicians such as New Zealand-born Nathan Haines, London's Mr Beale, Belgians Jasper Hautekiet, Levi Wynants and Frederik Kuhn. Berlin-based Alex Kassian remixes on the flip.

The producer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and label head from Bogotá, Colombia is nothing short of a phenomenon, effortlessly fusing complex sound combinations from jazz motifs to flowing piano and acid basslines into hugely exciting and unique house records. It’s a sound which comes together perfectly to create tracks which have been moving waves worldwide over the last couple of years. Felipe Gordon has already released a string of hugely well-regarded tracks and worked on remixes for some of the coolest labels out there, including Shall Not Fade, Toy Tonics, Clone Royal Oak, Razor-N-Tape, Local Talk, Heist and Nómada Records. This new full-length journey comes to us on Wide Awake - Felipe’s new label - a channel designed to launch his own starbound productions.

Felipe Gordon presents his second conceptual album under this premise. Making mistakes is a crucial part of art and life and it should always be embraced and accepted. During the past year, the musician and producer has worked on this new LP in his studio ‘El Dorado’ in Bogotá, Colombia. Trying to create a whole new concept and universe, he revisited some forgotten musical sketches, going from breakbeats, synthesis, boom-bap, deep acid, and house. Felipe Gordon presents us with a melting pot of musical ideas that are not trying to be a club focused collection, but more a of whole listening experience. Not focusing on dance matters alone, Felipe looks to the everyday and to meaningful musical enjoyment.
