Nationally adored Australian dance music producer Cassettes For Kids (Zak Degenhardt) has delivered his most thorough body of work to date, releasing EP Turpins Falls via Gallery Recs. Alongside the news, he’s announced he’ll be bringing the EP to life right across Australia and New Zealand throughout the next few months. 
 
Turpins Falls is a vast array of moods that ebbs and flows in energy, texture, power and emotion, wrapped in an archetypal, Cassettes For Kids glaze of hardware driven house music. Every track has its own unique deeply human feel and bounce, as evocative synths, swinging bass lines and driving, varied percussion layers fall effortlessly together, giving audiences an intimate insight into the mind of one of Australia’s most talented and prolific producers.
 
“As much as I wish this didn't have as much to do with the pandemic, so much of this was written during this period of my life and since then, I haven't made anything like the tracks on this EP,” Cassettes For Kids stated.
 
“This all made sense at the time. Tones and textures that all clicked then have ceased to happen again, yet I'm as proud as ever to have written as honest of a reflection of the frustration and lack of mental respite that I couldn't otherwise express, documented over these five tracks.”
 
Opening with I Was So, the atmospheric peak of the record. A track that boasts production prowess and confidence, it sees Zak lean heavily into groove and swing heavy house music for the first time. As I Was So closes with unadulterated bounce the title track arrives, Turpins Falls. Written while reflecting on a deeply intimate personal moment, the universal feeling of being blown away by context and the environment's intrinsic relationship to infatuation and love. As Zak reflected on the environmental awe of Turpins Falls in Kyneton, Victoria Turpins Falls featuring Nyla Hunter was born.

PREMIERE: Cassettes For Kids - I Was So

This is GDWAX001 the debut vinyl release from GLBDOM, featuring four sumptuous, vintage tinged house tracks.

Up first is So Fly by Saint Paul, a soul infused jam with heaps of uplifting vocal samples, organs and synths a plenty, not to mention a subtly jacking beat that steadily bumps the vibe along.

Next up is Keep Me Inside by Yann Polewka, taking things back with that classic house piano buzz. A pounding beat, an understated yet driven bass line, strings, pads and some ecstatic vocals all combine for a truly heavenly touch.

Manuold follows on with Beating Heart, a super catchy deep house number. Melancholic synth stabs and subtly employed vocal samples, luscious pads and that unmistakable house sax sound: Beating Heart is the perfect track for getting the crowd moving.

Finishing the release off are Marc Brauner & David Silver with Gioia, an energetic house tune with an initiable beat and an exquisite bouncing bass line. A soulful, uplifting vibe from start to finish, Gioia is the perfect end to this awesome debut vinyl release.

After a year, the KLAD series finally make its comeback with the third output! if the first two records were more clearer reinterpretations / remixes of original single tracks, this time K challenge the most to the game of samples hunting, from the most recognizable to the least, in two different cauldrons of magical mixtures, strictly for the ass moves.

Rhythm Department Records label boss and Manchester house giant Swales readies the tenth release on Distant Horizons, showcasing his signature blend of ecstatic rhythms, playful melodies and vivid, late-night excursions. Having become synonymous as a purveyor of quality house through his releases with Dansu Discs, Slothboogie and Honey Butter Records - the UK based producer provides a constant nod to the roots of dance through his own futuristic lens. 

Opening the release is ‘Faded Dreams’, a beautifully crafted track that ebbs and flows amongst sweat induced hugs and tears on the dance floor. The mantra ‘everything must fade’ is voiced softly, speaking to the transient nature of time while embodying the trascendental effect music can have. ‘Waves’ then invites a flow state of peace and tranquility, through its steady pace and oceanic blue textures - the drifting sonics are inviting, encouraging listeners to become lost within their layered arms. 

‘Open Your Mind’ picks up perfectly where ‘Waves’ left off with its jazz infused melodies and organic grooves. The mood radiates new city energy - the first wide-eyed experience of new smells, sights and the shining promise of opportunity. The pleasure dial is turned up to 100 in ‘Looking Back’ Swales capturing the distinctive energy from early house records with a progression of bubbling basslines, infectious chords and nostalgic vocal samples.

FP003 - A continuous Stream of Sonics Running in Your Area

`Running In Your Area` is the third Faux Poly release of 2022 from label bosses Kassian. The release solidifies the mood of the label and moves Kassian closer towards a heavier techno sound, just in time for their Berlin debut at Panorama Bar and HÖR this summer. All three tracks feature the instantly recognisable voice of Theo Parrish, lifted from his infamous Eargoggles show on NTS.

`The Machine` builds on pads and acid elements synonymous with Detroit techno and introduces a strong UK Dubstep influence. This festival leaning electronica track remains restricted and confident, creating a sense of power and presence.

`Off World Vehicles` is simple and surprisingly explosive, a weighty statement techno track suited for bigger rooms, featuring a slow churning acid line and cavernous vocal loop.

Finally, `Actions` is a solid rolling techno club tool which manages to be both reliable and unstructured at the same time, with a looped out vocal and talkbox style acid line.

PREMIERE: Kassian - The Machine [FP003]

GLBDOM is back with a second vinyl release as good as its first. This one pulls totters six super sweet racks from various artists who all share a subtly old-school vibe. The house they make comes with lovely retro-future feels and hints of 80s and early 90 magic. Jeff The Fool kicks off with timeless deep house and seductive French spoken words. The irresistible grooves come thick and fast from there with Scruscru & BR Selecta dropping in some kinetic 2step grooves, and dusty old and breakbeat sounds from FRR FONK come doused in synths soul. A trio of various jacking, smooth and soulful cuts see out the reverse.

Truth Radio is proud to present Triple Point EP by the German artist Stra.
'Triple Point' interprets the phenomenon of an equilibrium between three physical states of a single substance, with the main tracks 'Amber', 'Spirit' and 'Cloud' all created out of the same project file, at the same tempo.
Introductory track 'Transmute' reflects the house music roots of artist Stra, working at a more classic pace while still teasing some of the sounds of the EP's main part.
After this atmospheric journey inspired by styles like techno, drum and bass and trip hop, the EP finishes with a previously unreleased house remix of NYC based Funk Fox's "I Just Want That (Bump In My Trunk)", hinting at the identity of the artist.
