If you play FFXIV, then you may have ventured into a dungeon called The Sirensong Sea aboard a ship called "Misery" (😱) which inevitably gets dragged off-course. Men have begun to whisper of "strange things in the water" and that really got my ...er, tides a-flowing? Waters a-rushing? Bubbles a-bubbling...you get the idea.
I'd been wanting to try my hand at writing a sea shanty for a while but it always ended up sounding too Viking-ey, which is fine, but I wanted it to sound more Celtic and bittersweet. And this is what was conjured. I know it's not 100% in-keeping with the current music theme for The Sirensong Sea, but I ran with my own vision of fleeing through the caves and pirate nooks being pursued by a constant magical lull that tugs at me to come back to the water and sink below. 
Lorelei is the final boss in The Sirensong sea and she casts an ability called "Somber Melody" which, I like to think, would be my version of the song, reaching out to the players and trying to entrap them. It's not really. it's just a party-wide AOE.
