Hong Kong rooted and raised artists and Canto head diggers MH respectively RFX release the first edition of their Canto Club House project, a potpourri of four tracks reworked and reshaped to be played out on the dance floor and around. After a well-received digital release of Extinct Melodies From the Canto Club which gained the support by artists like Ben UFO, Tim Sweeney, Nd_baumecker or the Blessed Madonna, the demand for more Cantonese edits has been there and is  now finally satisfied. Club-friendly and cheesy but never crossing the line of becoming irrelevant is what characterizes this release, which is equally split into two edits from RFX and MH. The latter took on responsibility for the A1 and A2 while, Romain FX sprinkled his magic on the b-side of the vinyl. The A1 or Track 1 (MH Edit) takes one back to the 80s, to a time when clubs like DD's, Canton Disco or Hot Gossip opened their wild playgrounds in the Asian metropolis of Hong Kong as its nightlife revolved around hotels in those times, ringing in a new era of clubbing. MH's approach lets one re-experience this period of Hong Kong night clubbing with a bass line that vaults one right into the beforementioned events and the Disco-esque chords and vocals add the missing pieces for this total Canto-experience and journey through a 'decade that gave birth to big hair, shoulder pads, and great music'.

Here we go again! The return of the Greek DJ and production duo Boys' Shorts - this time in remixed form!
»On The High Line« and »Dark Room Rendez-Vous« from their first ever release for LIVE AT ROBERT JOHNSON get the remix treatment for even more Boys' Shorts dancefloor mayhem.
First up is Romain FX with his »Pressure Remix« of »On The High Line« and the title gives a hint to Romain's approach: He indeed adds a bit more pressure stripping down the former 80ties fueled track by adding a big big bass line thus achieving a more concentrated punch in general. By keeping DJ City's beautiful cool vocals for their remix they manage to keep the same lascivious quality you find in the original version. We say: Mission accomplished.
The next ones are a real "All in"! Jason nocturne doubles his stake straight away! Two versions for you! Keep it rollin' "On The Highline", or do you like it more acidic? The choice is yours!
Former Chicago-raised and socialized DJ and producer Alinka is next with her version of »Dark Room Rendez-Vous«. We're happy the Ukrainian-born and now Berlin resident Alinka is back for LARJ twisting the knobs just the right way transforming the track into a straighter and slightly darker monster the original instrumental already is. It's a winner, thank you Alinka!
We stay with the same track but now it's Mala Ika's turn. The French producer originally from Guadeloupe throws in a deeper bass drum into her remix and holds this extra energy over the whole six minutes. Mala Ika also adds a happy little synth melody that transforms this typical dark tune into a joyous yet still dark track.
All in all these three remixes can be seen as a beautiful supplement to Boys' Shorts original outing and will definitely find their way to the clubs all over the world.

Dance for Relief is a project that's been on our minds for a while as a way using our music to help raise funds for causes that we are passionate about. With the world currently struggling with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic now felt like it would be the right time to get this project started.

The first project under this banner is a compilation of edits, remixes and secret weapons from various friends, with Volume 1 focusing on cosmic, tribal and trancey sounds of the 90s.

All money from this release will go straight to Direct Relief (directrelief.org), a charity who's mission is to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies, and who are doing great work to ensure that protective gear and critical care medications get to as many health workers as possible. We felt they were a particularly both in the midst of current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

Finally, we'd like to say a huge thank you to all the artists involved who have given their skills and time during a difficult period to help make this release happen in support of a worthy cause.

Massimiliano Pagliara was born in Tricase (Lecce) in the deep south of Italy. Already as a child he listened to diverse types of music: rap, classical, reggae, dub and 60s rock'n'roll. Coming from this small village, he and his friends created a small musical world for themselves, spending a lot of time every day playing records in his basement and at private parties.
Upon moving to Milan in 1997, Massi embarked on an academic career and eventually earned his diploma in theatre, dance and choreography at the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi in 2001. While discovering the fashionable and alternative club scene of the city, his imagination was captured by experimental electronic music such as Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada, Autechre and Mira Calix. Naturally these avant-garde sounds eventually found their way into Massi's original body of work.
After finishing school he ventured to Europes underground capital Berlin, where he continued his studies in contemporary dance, but also dived into the city's explosive techno nightlife, particularly the renowned OstGut club. Massi's interest in electronic music found its peak in 2003 when he finally began to pursue DJing with a passion. Ever since he's been spinning records across the world as well as some of the most popular underground venues in Germany – among them Tape Club, SchwuZ, Tresor, ://about blank, Robert Johnson, and of course Berghain / Panorama Bar, where he holds a residency.
Massi describes his style as an eclectic mix of house, disco, electro and techno – one may call it current-yet-classic. DJing has since led to productio. These days Massi lets his obsession with analog synths run wild – usually he's holed up in his apartment studio, working on his latest productions. 2011 saw the release of his debut album Focus For Infinity (on Live At Robert Johnson), followed by his sophomore LP With One Another in 2014. February 2017 saw his debut release on Ostgut Ton with the EP Time And Again. Since then, Massi has worked on various EPs, remixes, single track, all culminating in the late 2018 release of his third full-length solo album, titled Feel Live. February 2020 saw his debut on Munich's label Permanent Vacation with his new EP Nothing Stays In One Place For Long, in 2021 he's added the third part of his Uncanny Valley label trilogy with the EP Connection Lost Pt. 3. His latest album See You In Paradise releases in October 2022, once again with Permanent Vacation.
But he’s not always alone: Massi has been collaborating with luminaries around town such as gui.tar, Snax, Daniel Wang, Lemercier & The Lala By, Discodromo as well international artists. This lead to several side projects over the last decade, such as [sic!] with the two members of gui.tar, The Rimshooters with the Brazilian DJ and producer Rotciv, Egyptian Nipples with the multi-instrumentalist Jules Etienne, Banana Moon with Luigi Di Venere, Couple Looking with Chris Cruse to name just a few.
There's an ongoing lust for dialogue when it comes to Massimiliano Pagliara – be it through his collaborations and solo productions, during his DJ sets, with his own music label Funnuvojere Records or on a personal level. The world of dance, movement and communication is deeply rooted in Massi's life – when you know how to move yourself, you easily know how to move others.
