Fresh organic dancefloor goodness from the balearic island of Formentera just in time for spring: Massivan returns with a wide smile on his face to skillfully soundtrack the dance of life with an aptly titled quality 3-tracker.

The opener is a kicking peak time remix treatment provided by Nihil Young aka Less Hate, followed by a tantalizing deep house smoothie version of the same tune blended to perfection by Dan Sonic.

Last but definitely not least, Massivan himself takes his very own beat to the tech main room (at 3AM approximately), infusing quite the punch and some authentic island winter storm darkness to go with it… until the sky is clear and all grey clouds have disappeared.

And so, 2018 starts out with an ever evolving pulse: this is what the dance of life sounds like.

Massivan - Noe’s Heartbeat  (pmdr021)

The latest effort by Massivan sounds like a grim (but still beautiful) winters day by the sea - with a storm rising and temperatures about to massively drop.

A mid tempo electro beat drives the vastly increasing winds, framed by intense, moody pad clouds and a grimey Synth bass, both bringing news of heavy rainfalls to come.

Massivan himself recalls the slight influence of a series called “Mr. Robot” while creating the track. And yes: you can feel that, too. 

In the end, “Noe’s heartbeat” would be something like the perfect soundtrack of an electric storm approaching on the horizon. Impressive scenery but better make sure you find shelter soon. Quite the movie!

After numerous prestigeous compilation entries (a.o. HOTEL COSTES, BUDDHA BAR) and his latest album release „Family With 3 Hearts“ (just recently out on PSCHENT) being more on the smoother side of things, MASSIVAN now re-introduces his impeccable uptempo production capability again. 
As the first in a string of special dj-friendly EP & single releases through his own PMUSICA imprint, the mystical sounds of „December“ first and foremost make a clear statement: dance, dance, dance... but with class & style please. 
Massivan comes full circle with this kind of darker sound – although being a studied musician with „classical“ skills, he never was a stranger to all things house, trance & techno... and the deep space in between. In fact, the man travelled the globe as a club dj sporting those genres more than a decade ago already.

The man they call Massivan (aka Ivan Pezzini), was actually born the son of an italian violinist in Switzerland back in 1971. After enjoying a classical music education, playing the violin for 8 years as a kid and then later studying drums at the American Institue of Music (Vienna), he took a left turn careerwise in the early 90s and got deep into audio engineering and deejaying. And as „change“ had always definitely been a very familiar term in his life, Ivan decided to take on the challenge and went for the change. 

As a co-founder of a label called Modest Records, our blessed swiss Italian protagonist then decided to literally become a progressive house activist, releasing (and charting) various influential singles under the „Josef’s Ruhe“ moniker (with full support from various genre dj dons like John Digweed, Timo Maas, Steve Lawler and Sasha). Those, in combination with a residency at Zürich’s legendary Labyrinth club, made Massivan catch a brief glimpse of dj jet setting and around-the-world-party lifestyle. By 2002, Ivan had scored a nice record deal as 50% of  CALMSTREET, but due to the label going bust right after establishing CALMSTEEET’s longplayer „Third Wave“ on a global scale, he had to come up with a new masterplan altogether.

It was then when Massivan decided to move to Formentera, letting the pretty spiritual island vibes take control of his creativity (and personality of course)... full on. With his debut solo album „Daylife“ – a sort of jazzed up chill house affair - and the follow up, the heavily club music influenced „Massenwahn“ (released in 2006), as the results of his personal, spiritual and creative growth. Prestigeous compilation entries for a.o. Buddha Bar & Hotel Costes came as no surprise by that time. 

But Massivan wasn’t satisfied just yet - the following albums „Wide“ (2008) and, in 2010, „Family With 3 Hearts“ (released on renowned label  Pschent Records) were both destined to put his name on the radar of the international dancefloor- and lounge elite at last, as did his mesmerizing album production for Formentera based Singer Bea Luna. 

And now, Massivan finally felt truly „Satisfied“ – about time to release his 5th (!) solo album by the same name! 

Supported by first call musicians like belgian guitar/bass virtuoso Nicolas Fiszman, top notch drummer Wolfgang Haffner as well as singers Bea Luna and Scheherazade Stone,  it was mainly the opportunity to produce music with his 70 year old father Mirco - a long time violinist for the Zurich opera – that made Massivan feel that things are coming full circle finally. The rare sonic space where the soul of a dj becomes one with the majestic beauty of classical strings.

„To me, all music is one,“ Massivan states – and smiles. „In the end, you could call ‚Satisfied’ a sort of downtempo concept album – and at the same time it’s also an ode to my father, who enabled me to first and foremost be in love with music!“

Cologne based dj/producer RAZOOF dips the MASSIVAN album title track into one of his typical, yet even more refined

Good groove activist and global scale network dj KINSKI (former A&R of renown connaisseur label imprints like
Stereo Deluxe and Switchstance Records) lays his gifted hands on „Mutabor“, introducing his latest creative cell
moniker Daktari Child.
One of the real stand out MASSIVAN album tracks, „Getaway“, gets the treatment twice on this release...
MASSIVAN’s main vocalist Olson (appearing here under the MARY UHANA moniker) adds a crisp live reggae feel to
the beautiful, violin loaden MASSIVAN original....
...while Cologne based downtempo producer duo RUBBASOL (aka george solar and olinolium) teleports fragments of
the very same song into their trademark, minimalistic ambient dub territory, stretching the meditative power of the loop
in their typical, ultra laid back stylee... customized for Formentera sunsets.
Despite his artist name, German based TRANCEFELD stays true to the loungey, jazzed up feel of „Sweet ings“...
...while progressive house honcho JUMBUSH adds a pop feel dancefloor vibe to „You walk on air“: a track that on the
MASSIVAN album originally comes as a moody ballad.
Meanwhile, fresh MASSIVAN remixes for Amana Melomé and Washington DC based love poet JEN move the floors and

There is a certain kind of music that can make you feel like looking at a wide seaside horizon at sunset, completely being in the „here & now“, forgetting about time and space in general. At least for that special spilt second...  then, only then, that moment is definitely not just a clichee.

With “Daylife 2012” we are proud to re-release our first release on „Pmusica“.
One can hear the musical education Massivan enjoyed during his whole life:
starting playing violin at the age of six, going over to playing drums and ending by being an audio-engineer.
Contrary to Massivan’s look, on Daylife you will be able to hear the chilled island-groove Massivan is living on Formentera, Spain. A tiny little island, just beside Ibiza, where he is living now for almost ten years.
On his solo debut album, you can find five tracks featuring “Bea Luna‘s” vocals, former singer contracted by Bmg-Ariola. A charming voice, very characteristic for the sound of Daylife.
With “Pär Gandalfsson” on the piano and “Mirco Pezzini” - who turns out to be his father! -
on the violin, this album turns out to be a great musical experience you can’t (and won’t) miss.

The latest offering from our man in Formentera comes with that extra pinch of effortlessness, four brliliant genre bending remix treatments made by close friends, a great flow and the remarkable voice of long time “collaboratress” Bea Luna. “That Day” definitely is a family affair - one more time.

While the original song drifts right into the leftfield sunset on a light house groove, Massivan’s swiss cohort Olson manages to redefine it into three rather smartly diverse moods: from electronic ambient to halftime grimey and back again. 

Meanwhile, Vienna based DeLaDap provide some of their inimitable vibes for their trademark remix,  truly a stand-out one!
