The Crooked Routine is a one-man musical project that combines psychedelic, progressive rock music and quirky, dark visuals. The Finnish musician behind the name The Crooked Routine is Matti Emil Peltonen, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist.

The debut album Chapter II is a concept album that revolves around themes of romanticized misanthropy, absurd gothic imagery and skepticism. The music balances between bizarre and catchy, and has influences from cinematic orchestral music, garage rock and doom metal. Dirty fuzz-guitars and massive drum sounds are a signature throughout the album.
