MASTASHAKE’s BIO

Mastashake aka Mark Sheffield hails from Auckland New Zealand. A music lover who grew up around classic electronic music cuts from the likes of Kraftwerk and Daftpunk, it was a love for hip hop that made Mark buy his first turntables. Much to the annoyance of family members and neighbours alike, Mark started obsessively mixing in the basement of his family’s east Auckland home…
However it was the deep bass rumblings of dubstep and drum n bass that were to really grab Mastashake’s ears.. Presently studying electronic music production at MAINZ (The Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand) underneath the tutelage of world famous producer and DJ Recloose, Mark is working on a style of production and DJing that comes from the UK underground, yet incorporates his own unique style and taste for future beats - in Mark’s words “creating music heaven”. 


As MASTASHAKE himself says: “I love music, I listen to music all the time. Music to me is like sleeping - eventually you all have to sleep. If I don’t get my fix of music I don’t feel energized and alive…”
 

An up and coming DJ on the NZ dubstep and drum n bass scene, Mastashake is def one to keep and eye and ear on - watch for upcoming gigs and productions from this beat addicted artist.
