Here is the awesome 'Climetallica' band of young musicians from the Scottish Borders, presenting their own unique version of Enough is Enough, a song about climate change, created over 4 days in July 2021.

Well done to all the young musicians who took part in this project to produce the first musical response to COP26 by young people in Scotland! Creating their own version of 'Enough is Enough' has given many of the young people on this recording a chance to try a new instrument and play together as a band for the first time.

This project is funded by the Scottish Government’s Youth Arts Fund through Creative Scotland with support from Youth Music Initiative and Time to Shine. The Youth Arts Fund ensures creative opportunities for children and young people continue to exist across Scotland despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Climetallica - Enough is Enough -

This is the wonderful new street band Planetary Voice , P7 pupils form St. Mary's Primary in Greenock. They are playing a version of the song 'Enough is Enough by Karine Polwart, and adding their music to the movement across Scotland demanding a world free from climate change. Can you believe these pupils have only been playing their instruments for just 6 weekly sessions? AMAZING!!!

After a crazy day of drums, Makey Makeys, guitars, samples, bananas, tangerines and play-doh, this group of young people came up with something that was 'actually pretty cool' - their very own version of the Whites Stripes '7 Nation Army'. Well done everyone, want an awesome day's music-making!

After learning 'Shotgun' by George Ezra on the first day of the February music event at MacArts in Galashiels, the youth music tutors (Mat the Hat, Ron, Jess and Kat) started to get COMPLAINTS that some people didn't like the lyrics. So on day 2, this talented bunch of young musicians REWROTE the words as they liked, AND rocked the drum section, AND the guitar section AND the keyboards. Well done to EVERYONE who took part - you're AWESOME!! It's been so good to see your skills and confidence grow.  See you at Easter - the next music gathering is on Aril 13th and 14th.

Shotgun (Youth Musicians rewrite)

Here is the debut recording of the 'Out Of this World' band from Kingsland Primary in Peebles. They are rocking the Kpanlogo rhythm from Ghana on the djembe, bass drums and repeniques. You can also hear their fantastic version of the 'Calabash Song', sung by everyone own the band. Well done to all these awesome young musicians!

What a band, what a sound! Hear these superb young musicians rocking a Scottish jig rhythm on drums from around the world. You will also find their own version of a mouth music song from the Isle of Skye called 'O seallaibh curaigh Eóghainn' (Oh look at Ewan's coracle), - but you will need to have it sung to you in person to see the hand movements for full effect! Well done to everyone in the band!

Blazing Bangers from Kingsland

This is the first ever recording from 'Spooky Pumpkins', otherwise known as P7 from Lady Alice Primary School, Greenock. Zombie Jamboree is an old Calypso, made famous by Harry Belafonte (check him out, he was awesome!)The band are rocking the brass and drums and getting ready for their first public performance at the Greenock Galoshans Festival in Cathcart Square on Sunday 30th October. Here are the 'Big Bang Banana Band' from Sanderson's Wynd Primary School rocking some funky fish and chips rhythms with a rubber chicken on the side! By working hard on their rhythms skills, drum techniques, teamwork and enjoyment of music, this class has turned itself into an amazing drumming band in just 7 weeks - well done everyone!
