Hailing from the city of Rotterdam, Julian Determan aka Mata Disk found his
influences early on as his parents exposed him to 90s electro. This led to his
distinctive sound, which combines contemporary club music with ambient and
atmospheric elements. A sound that celebrates the experimental and
boundary-pushing aspects of music, which can be heard on his well-received 2022
EP ‘Surrounder’ and recent ‘’Two Sides of the Same Coin’’ EP, both released on
Nous’Klaer Audio.

He set our event on fire as our main guest in KulturA in our home town Liège. He gave everyone from our team to all dancers out there chills and memories we won't forget!

tactual’s third release, ilinx play, borrows a term used by Roger Caillois to describe games based on the pleasurable pursuit of altered perception. each track, albeit with it’s own unique frame of reference, possesses a sense of motion, a playing-with-movement, they fold, curve and cycle, forming a new set of rules - a new game.

Julian Determan, aka Mata Disk, is a DJ based in Rotterdam. After leaving behind his former aliases, he has embraced a distinctive sound that blends contemporary club music with ambient and atmospheric elements. Mata Disk’s music celebrates the experimental and boundary-pushing edges of the electronic music.

With two outstanding EPs —"Surrounder" and "Two Sides of the Same Coin" — both released on Nous’Klaer Audio, and a remarkable live performance at Draaimolen Festival, he continues to gain recognition for his immersive and forward-thinking approach to shaping sonic landscapes.

His latest release appears on the Tanctual compilation ilinx play, contributing the track “Zone In”,  part of a collection of cutting-edge, club-functional tracks that flirt with sonic vertigo.

After offering Polychrome a beautiful closing composition on its various artists compilation Reflection EP, Rotterdam live act, producer, and DJ @matadisk returns to the label with LFH-Proxy EP set for release on Friday 27.06

Featuring two original club tracks and their interpretations by producers @eversines and Jopie (@user-335177236) , this project further cements Julian Determann’s singular musical identity while opening it up to new dimensions and patterns.

A1. Life Force Harmonizer (“LFH”) opens the dance by capturing the sweet nostalgia experienced during club morning hours. Mata Disk’s sound palette is here in full display, the energy carried by sharp drum design and a propulsive bassline is lifted by melodious pads offering the track its tenderness. On the B1, Rotterdam producer Jopie creatively re-imagined these feelings, stripping down and reshaping LFH onto a track flirting with breaks and IDM progressions.

With Proxy, Mata Disk dims the light slightly, with a drum workout track to keep the dance alive. The very progressive and low-end focused build-up paired with a tension-building synthesized lead offers the A2 track a smooth build-up. De Lichting member Eversines elegantly switches the sound narrative, transforming Proxy into a dark electro-leaning tech house track carrying the same tension. Adding emotion into the mix with an anthemic melodic lead, Eversines’ Proxy Ziggo Mix serves as a perfect closer.

His fascination for traditional tribal percussion, paired with influences from minimalist field recordings and British bass culture, generates a hypnotic energy that resonates with the raw power of contemporary electronic music.

On 'Wave Prophecy', his first 12" on Dance Data, Kamoun showcases his distinct range - from deep tribal grooves to high-energy dance tracks, Kamoun fuses rhythmic complexity with avant-garde sensibility, forming a unique and addictive sonic palette.
