I'm Mateo — a French saxophonist, arranger, and producer driven by a passion for exploring music across borders.

My musical journey explores Jazz (Hardbop, New Orleans), Brazilian, Cuban, African, and Afro-American traditions. Having lived in Barcelona, São Paulo, and New Orleans, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with extraordinary artists across a wide range of genres — including Jack Johnson, Ivan Neville, Carlos Sarduy, TBC Brass Band, and Bigflo et Oli.

As a touring member of the Playing For Change Band, I’ve performed around the world — from Japan to Australia, Brazil to the USA — sharing the stage with legends like Ellis Hall (Tower of Power), James Gadson, John Densmore (The Doors), Vasti Jackson, Keb’ Mo’, The Doobie Brothers, and Hisato “Char” Takenaka.

Now based in Praia, Cape Verde, I continue building bridges through music, working with renowned local talents such as Bino Barros, Albertino Évora, Manuel Di Candinho, Kim and Kaku Alves, Jorge Pimpa, Khaly, and more.
