KEREM AKDAG - UP IN THE SKY (OG)

The story began when Kerem started to play drums and gravitated towards playing  funk and blues tracks. During his high school period, curiosity led him to production with influences stemming directly from the soul and hip-hop. The turning point came at 18 when he applied to “Miller Music Factory Contest” which was one of the biggest electronic music contest in Turkey, and his submission won him the title. His music career changed rather dramatically after that, and he started to work with Kaan Duzarat, who is one of the strongest producer and live performer in Istanbul's local area. Kerem's influences also started to diversify, and he started to produce house music. His first EP called “A Good Play” was released by London-based imprint Apparel Music on 2013 with support by the likes of Shur-i-Kan, Osunlade, Dubfire and many more. Now, Kerem is blossoming into a multi-faceted artist, who seems to sit very comfortably between funk, house and bass-related frequencies. We are very sure that you will be hearing a lot more from this man in 2014 and beyond.

This song came from a live Mugpush jam session recording at Windy Hill studios. The improvised vocal track by Devaun Bantu (fellow Mugpush member and also student at Expressions College) was given to Teek as he expressed that he had an idea for it. He then imported the vocals to his turntable where he started to chop up all the vocal parts he liked from various sections of the jam, placing them as he felt the song start to arrange itself. Later bringing in the lush vocals of Sonya Distel to complement the sound and provide beautiful female representation. 

Bringing the track to Expressions to utilize their facility and come together with the students to share the experience was enjoyed by all. Teeko is sharing this download (and many others) with us at the newly launched Explore.fm. Appearing as the first free music ecosystem for verified artists.

MPM welcomes Melodiesinfonie! "Be Thankful" is the second album by the Swiss producer and musician, who first stepped onto the scene via his EPs on Soulection. A son of a dedicated jazz fan, Melodiessinfonie grows up surrounded by his dad's audiophile record collection. He becomes a drummer and plays in a couple of experimental psych rock bands. 20 years later, he is one of todsays most promising and challenging producers. Jazz is definitley the teacher, when it comes to Melodiesinfonie's music and without Dilla he would sound different as well. Which can be said about many beatmakers but doesn't do justice to Melodiesinfonie. He is a free spirit who creates his music unaffected from the boundaries of musical genres and business policies. Musicality, vision and spirituality are the cornerstones on which "Be Thankful" is build. The album features musical friends like Marla, Miles Bonny, Djemeia, Anja Joie, Christian Crow, Nothoya and Wodoo Wolcan. It is also the first kollabo between MPM and Boyoom Connective, the artist collective founded by Meldiesinfonie and Maloon The Boom.
