Minimal bombs from LA-based, Dubfire-championed SHADED

Shaded is the new solo project of Skyler Taugher, one of the members of SHDWPLAY, whose releases to date have all been via Dubfire's SCI+TEC label, which speaks to his talent for stripped-down, big room techno. This four track EP bridges the gap between pumping, classic M_nus-style minimal techno and whatever it's more fun and modern counterpart is. 

Opener Sheshe has been a staple in label-boss Tiga's sets of late, a slick, energetic and eminently playable club record. Things get darker for Side Sippin and Jane Smith Goes To DC10 before closer Single Freax funs things up again in the closer slot with what sounds like a police siren on drugs under a vocal going “freak-freak-freak,” classic elements for effective party tools…

Tronic’s next release is featuring label head’s Christian Smith’s second remix pack. The duties to remix “Mutate” are upon the groovy Kaiserdisco boys which have manage to create a funky version of the track, it will keep you moving. Sub bass, stomping drums and leading arpeggiated synth lines. The great Dosem is at it on the second remix. “Who You Are” is a banging, rolling, dance-heavy track with an 80’s synth long the way, pure excellence. The third piece of the EP is a rework of Christian’s track “Motor” from Dave Angel, this is the bass leading – 6 a.m monster piece of the pack, ace melodies, big synths and a sense of placidity.

The true techno dream team of Dubfire & Oliver Huntemann revisit their Elements project from a few years ago with a new series of killer remixes. Terra - originally released in 2011, did all sorts of damage to dance-floors across the globe. Now, it’s all set to do it again thanks to this Joseph Capriati Remix. The Italian techno headliner has grown into a major force on the scene in recent years, and here delivers a signature slice of muscular, driving techno - taut, dramatic and devastating. Paired with a remix of the now seminal Feugo Julien Jeweil’s remix also hits the spot - the track received a 2016 overhaul with some of Jeweil’s signature flair.
