Wonderwheel Recordings is proud to present a new single from recent signing Tremor, a Buenos Aries based trio that combine rhythms and sounds across South American genre borders with digital vibes and electronic music culture into a sound that has been dubbed “Digital Folklorico” by NPR.  Here on their debut single, “Huella” is a mystical affair rooted in the Andes with soaring vocals from singer Micaela Chaque, pounding drums, dubby synth squelches and deep echoing bass. Remixes come from Mexico City’s Frikstalkers who turn “Huella” into a dancefloor friendly chugging four to the floor dub “steppers” remix, and Folklorico wunderkind Chancha Via Circuto who ups the mysticism of the original with his understaded, nearly ambient refix on the tune. Also included is the instrumental and a bonus cut that will not be on the album, “Tarkas”.

MATEO KINGMAN PRESENTS HIS SECOND ALBUM, ASTRO 

Mateo Kingman conceives of his second album Astro as a cure for the healthy. It’s a journey across the constellation of the snake, a journey at once earthly and cosmic. The poetic text expressed with a multiplicity of vocal timbres drives the musical journey, starting with the decision to face up to our demons, passing through a deep sense of vertigo and sacred healings, to return us to ourselves, reconciled and grateful. 

Musically, Astro expresses an intense investigation, tying together different threads: contemporary urban song (trap, hip hop, and elements of electronic music), traditional Latin American melodies influenced by shamanic icaro chants, and the emphasis on synthesizers, resulting in a new, hypnotic kind of sound.  

The journey begins with “Umbral”, its introduction reminiscent of a prayer, a representation of the moment when we understand we need help. With each song we go further into the meaning of this introspective journey. “Puerta de Sal” is an invitation to let ourselves go, embrace the absence of control and take a leap of faith into the unknown. “Último Aliento”, made in collaboration with Gustavo Santaolalla, speaks of the acceptance of death as an indispensablepart of life. “Religar”, the first single from the record, is about reconciliation, the possibility of returning to oneself after the disintegration of the self. The journey ends with “Astro”, which gives its name to the album, and represents the learning we carry with us after a spiritual journey. 

In a world in which we increasingly need more stimuli and approval from the outside, Astro invites us to take a look inside and explore all the aspects of the self, from the darkest to the lightest. On this record, Mateo Kingman shows a strong point of view as the author, although he moves away from the sounds and themes with which he made his name, daring to mix current trends, urban rhythms and vocal experiments, forming a constellation through which we can all travel, showing a clear personal and musical evolution.

Nicola Cruz re-visits his second album 'Siku', released earlier this year to widespread acclaim, with ‘Siku Reworks’. The release provides the listener with another perspective on the ‘Siku’ domain, one envisioned in different corners of the world; Argentina, the UK, and Japan to name a few.  In an effort to unlink the original material, Cruz has selected producers to re-work a designated song on 'Siku' according to their own style. Additionally, Cruz has chosen to re-record two tracks whose live versions have stuck with him throughout a year of constant touring.

   ‘Siku Reworks’ invokes a psychedelic view of the original material, Hermetics (R&S) provides deep atmospherics with his take on 'Obsidiana' and Nicola offers an acid-merengue-infused live version of 'Señor de las Piedras' alongside an infectious and club-ready re-work of live favourite 'Siete'. In some ways it's hard to define Nicola's sound, shaped by years of global touring, and every track here is unique and succeeds in breaking from the usual electronic music format in captivating fashion.

Resulta que el árbol del vecino creció tanto en este último tiempo que una mañana desperté y tenía una gran rama metida en la cocina comedor de mi casa.
Se ve que entró durante la noche, por la ventana que está debajo del extractor de aire.

Ni bien la ví me quedé parpadeando sin entender, y antes de que dijera nada ella se meció, y en un lenguaje sin palabras me recitó una poesía de sus hojas, de las mas amarillas.

Fue tan dulce que me conquistó al instante, entonces la invité a desayunar conmigo y aceptó hamacandose en un sí.  

Inclinándose hacia el té de canela y clavo dijo: “ Solo espera a que se enfríe un poco y echalo de a sorbos sobre la tierra que esconde mis pies.” Y así lo hice.
Nos miramos durante un largo rato, y luego de un gesto de corteza comenzamos a hablar.

Fue una charla en silencio, donde hablamos de la importancia de los días de lluvia, que aunque a nosotros los humanos no siempre nos moja, también nos riega.
Coincidimos en que los rayos del sol en la mañana son los mejores, y de lo especial que es la luz en otoño.

Le conté de qué manera nos afectan las estaciones, y se sorprendió al saber que también nosotros estamos bajo la influencia de la luna y sus ciclos. 

Yo me sorprendí de que estuviese al tanto de la vida de todos los demás árboles y plantas del barrio, y de lo bien que guardan sus secretos. También cuando me habló de la rapidez con la que aceptan el dolor de sus pérdidas, no lo podía creer.

Así pasamos la tarde filosofando como buenos amigos, y al llegar la noche dejó que me hamacase sobre ella hasta quedarme dormido.

A la mañana siguiente la rama no estaba mas allí, y al asomarme por la ventana me entristecí al ver que el vecino había podado el árbol por completo. Entonces desesperado le grité al tronco amputado cómo podía ayudarlo, y ya no respondió mas.
Pero en mi desconsuelo miré hacia abajo y ví la respuesta. 

La rama había dejado de sus semillas por todo el piso de mi cocina comedor.

La Amazonía Andina refresca su identidad musical a través de los sonidos del creador ecuatoriano de 24 años. En 2016 presentó su álbum debut ‘Respira’ bajo el ala de AYA Records, el nuevo sello hermano de los pioneros ZZK Records. El álbum de Kingman es una sobrecarga de energía que canta la diversidad y dibuja paisajes naturales de magia y colores del agua. Las letras y los sonidos nos conducen en la compleja relación entre selva tropical y altas montañas, entre la maraña de los árboles y el sinuoso sonido del viento delos páramos.

Kingman, 24, is a singer-songwriter of Ecuadorian Amazonian music that fuses traditional Latin American sounds with hip-hop, rock, and pop. Respira, his debut album, is an energy overload that sings of biodiversity, sketching natural landscapes of magic and water colors. It is infused with sounds guiding the listener from the jungle and to high mountains, between the tangle of trees and the meandering sound of the wind on the moors.
