Toolroom’s favourite Belgian Tech House aficionado Siege is set to drop his latest single ‘Perfect’ on the Trax imprint. Having recently mixed the latest Toolroom ‘House Party Vol. 5’ compilation, Siege is going from strength to strength with the releases in 2021 and it doesn’t look like he’ll be letting up anytime soon.

From the off the record has a nervous like energy too it, its stomping beat, pulsing bassline and sparse percussive elements roll into each other, setting the overall tone of the track. Long rising synth sounds add to the already tense vibe of ‘Perfect’, constantly building up until it bursts into a fiery rage ready to burn down the dancefloor and get the ground shaking.

Emotions ride high on ‘Perfect’ and renowned poet Maia Mayor makes her presence known on the record, bringing a ferocious intensity to the record unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. Venting her frustrations on dealing with expectations and the perception of perfection, which cuts deep is almost always impossible to achieve. Emphasised by its rolling Tech House beat, Siege masterfully blends spoken word poetry with his signature thumping sound, creating the unique and original record which is ‘Perfect’.

Solid Grooves co-founder Michael Bibi debuts on the label with three techy rollers including a remix from Dutch producer ONNO.

Having established itself as one of the UK’s most consistent event series, Solid Grooves has continued to prosper since forming as a record label, with early releases from the likes of Wade, Kuo Climax and co-founder PAWSA. London’s Michael Bibi, who founded the imprint alongside PAWSA, has earned his stripes as a producer over the last year, dropping recent releases on MadTech, Electronique and Lost Records. 

Percussive and rhythmic, ‘Restoration’ initiates the package with rolling drums and a soft purring bassline, before ‘Excuse You’ delivers thudding kicks, metallic snares and a rumbling low-end suited for the peaktime. 

‘Standing Near’ is then a bouncy production with an infectious vocal and arcane atmospherics, making for the trippiest original of the package. 

Known for his releases on the likes of Truesoul, VIVa and Moon Harbour, ONNO ties up the release with a formidable remix featuring undulating percussion, dusky effects and a distorted vocal sample.
