Detlef and Denney curate the fourth edition of the VIVa Warriors compilation, which is set for release on September 25th through Steve Lawler’s VIVa MUSiC.

Consistently at the forefront of the finest dance floor equipped and club ready productions, Steve Lawler’s VIVa Warriors events have rightfully cemented themselves in the premier tier of dance music’s party echelon. Each consecutive year, the renowned VIVa Warriors mix compilation showcases the finest offering of all things that the Warriors stand for. Now, it’s the turn of Greek born Alex Georgiadis aka Detlef, and British born Denney to masterfully weave an impeccable selection of dance floor certified tracks to the highest caliber.

"It all started with the idea to bring our friends together at a party, and that idea became VIVa Warriors. Now 4 years later, VIVa Warriors has become a universal thing, a part of everyone’s life, not only ours. I couldn't be happier to be a part of that, and provide with this compilation a small piece of the sound that's been played at Warriors. All the artists that associated with this compilation are the true meaning of underground house music so a big shout goes out to them.” - Detlef

Both Detlef and Denney are intrinsic to the VIVa family, holding residencies at the party’s spiritual home of Sankeys Ibiza, along with numerous releases via the VIVa MUSiC imprint. Detlef, first bursting onto the scene back in 2008 has formed an undisputed repertoire of groove ridden cuts and bass driven melodies, whilst Denney’s illustrious catalogue of releases such as the 2015 hit ‘Low Frequency’ have gained him international recognition as one of electronic music’s most sought after acts.

“VIVa Warriors is my first ever residency in Ibiza so to be asked to mix this years compilation for them in my first year is a great honour. A lot of work went into the mix and a massive thanks has to be said to all the artists who submitted tracks for it...there are some killers in there from some of my favourite artists!” - Denney

Detlef’s mesmeric fifteen-track selection captures the unparalleled sound and vision of VIVa Warriors, fusing together elegantly composed basslines from the likes of Hauswerks’ ‘I Feel Like Jammin’ with a deeper ambient production style provided by Bunte Bummler’s ‘Demo Cassette’. An offering of exquisite variety, Detlef elevates the true essence of VIVa Warriors selecting Robert James’ ‘House Invader’ along with Latmun’s ‘Who’s That’ where the crisp percussion and distorted vocal samples will echo out through sound systems of clubs and festivals across the globe.

Procuring the second mix on the compilation, Denney’s unquantifiable track choice travels through a host of contrasting house and techno subgenres. Opening the mix with Audiojack’s deep and bass laden ‘Elevate’, Denney continues to demonstrate his undeniable talent as DJ. Whether it be from performing at the white isles most infamous venues, or on his home turf in the UK, Denney’s musical prestige shines brightly through the compilation. A staggering selection of productions from house heavy beats from the likes of Jey Kurmis & Shannon’s ‘Wonadoodle’, to closing the compilation with the fittingly funk infused ‘So High Acid (Acid Dub), perfectly exhibiting why this fourth edition marks yet another milestone in the VIVa Warriors mix compilation series.

Having recently provided Underground Audio with his remix of Javi Bora's 'Weapons', Barcelona favourite Piem presents his own collection for the label via his 'Rude' EP. 

Seething with attitude, title track 'Rude' champions weighty percussion straddled by pronounced chord stabs. Raffa FL flips the original, dousing it in biting hi hats and a hefty sub. The 2nd remix comes from Los Pastores, who approach the track from a different stance, shifting the previously choppy synths into an atmospheric roller.

Piem returns to close the EP with second original mix 'Over Me'. Muffled vocal samples unfurl to reveal dissonant delays spiralling into the shuffles of snares and shakers

Premiere: Audiojack - Singularity [Suara]

wAFF is a giant of the modern techno scene and returns here for another outing on Loco Dice's Desolat label.
Recent years have seen wAFF emerge on the back of an attention-grabbing DJ and production style. The UK artist knows how to cook up big, rumbling grooves and weave powerful DJ sets in large clubs and on vast festival stages around the world. He's released on the likes of Cocoon, Hot Creations and Drumcode as well as this label back in 2017, and once again cooks up a storm on two titanic new tunes.
Powerful opener BONDAGE is a ten-minute trip through slick and elastic drums that will sweep up the floor. There is darkness in the weighty bass, and real punch in the kicks, and it's all finished off with some sci-fi sound effects and dramatic breakdowns. A lead synth line goes from molten and muted to frazzled and brain frying and the whole thing is a real adventure.
Then comes SPACE, a clipped, kinetic house track with tight, urgent drum programming that really draws you in. Chopped up wordless vocals are drawn out, refracted, twisted and turned over the groove, and the crisp hi hats add a layer of machine funk. This is a full fat, muscular tune that will stand out in any set.
Once again here, wAFF and Desolat make for a perfect partnership.

Hot Creations get set to release an album from label favourite, Toronto based DJ and producer Nathan Barato. Stepping away from his usual sound, Barato brings with him an old-school, energetic bounce to this ten track offering, inviting some top names to join him for the ride.

The album begins with Over You. Swirling arpeggios dance around the pulsating beat, providing the perfect backdrop for the poppy, yet soulful vocals of Wayne Tennant. This leads neatly into A Sun's Dream, which is exactly that - a warm, sunny track, pure party-time house produced alongside the French composers and afro-soul singers, Djeuhdjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson. Up next is Context featuring Lost BOUL. & NB76 - the aliases of Paolo Rocco and Nathan himself. It’s a techier affair with contrasting elements that take the track through a range of twists and turns. She's A Rockstar, produced alongside fellow Canadian Room 303, picks up the pace with its infectious rhythm and playful vocal hook.

On In Ya Soul Barato utilises a booty-house style bassline, enlisting Chicago’s Kid Enigma to provide the vocals.

High Rez brings back the sunny vibes with a tantalising guitar hook and dreamy piano topline, juxtaposed against the deep, whirring bassline. The slow, yet assured drum beat of Bubbles is up next with its woozy bass and gentile percussion sending the listener on a trance-inducing journey into the cosmos. Don't Say It features the smouldering vocals of Mikey V, layered over a throbbing beat that looks set to be one of Hot Creation’s summer anthems. Penultimate track Yo Yo has a sturdy bounce and effortlessly blends cowbells and suspenseful synths.

The album closes out with Crazy - a track that’s full to the brim of high energy with a marching bassline that’s sure to cause a commotion on dance-floors across the globe.

Nathan Barato has been a key figure in dance music for some time. His diverse sets have led to residencies at some of the industry’s hottest nights including Paradise and Elrow. He’s had a slew of hits on impressive imprints such as Hottrax, REKIDS, Relief and Saved Records. As well as this, Barato also heads up the RAWthentic label alongside Carlo Lio, which has charted releases from top artists including DJ Deeon and Stacey Pullen.
