Unsuccessful capture. Only one channel picked anything up, so the left channel has been copied over to the right. I initially uploaded this with some filtering on the lower frequencies until I realised that was sort of missing the point of presenting 'raw material', so here it is again... untouched.

2014-05-29 - Telegraph Pole - Pickburn

The original plan was to set up microphones in the park and capture the birds (parrots, crows, hawks etc) and other natural sounds in Lodi Garden, but a security guard had other ideas and came running towards me telling me that this was not permitted.... no idea why.

So I used the built in mics of my Olympus LS100 to at least capture the sound of me walking towards the exit, with various passing conversations, birdsong, a bicycle and a football game passing through the mix.

2014-09-27 - A Walk In Lodi Garden - New Delhi

Recorded on the iPhone. This public service announcement was incessant, and seemed to be on a loop for the hour or so that I was in the market, pausing only for more announcements from a different voice.

Impromptu street recording grabbed on iPhone whilst shopping for an outfit for Diwali (Festival of Lights), spoilt somewhat by an impatient scooter rider who beeped through the middle of the crowd.

Some teenagers relaxing in a public park on a Sunday afternoon.... sounding a little boy-band-ish, but pleasant none the less.

Still blemished by the sound of distant traffic (road and air), this is one of my recordings from a recent stay in India, this time at the wonderful Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary about 50 km outside New Delhi.

Attempting some stereo recording using a Rode NT1 and a NTG2. 
Conclusion: I really need a pair of matching mics with consistent wind protection!

A place to archive some field recordings which may, or may not get used in future sound experiments either under my own Mat + Handley moniker, or with the Vamonos P collaborative project with Craig Manga. Feel free to download and use these files as you wish... a link back would be nice if you decide to include a file in your finished work.

Advice with Field Recording tips and tricks including equipment, editing and capturing would be greatly appreciated as I am learning this as I go along!
