Mathan's path into electronic music began behind the doors of Home Club (2013) through to White Label Records (2019), where exposure to subcultures and sound systems shaped his foundation. During his time at Singapore Community Radio (2019), he expanded his curatorial practice, broadcasting across genres while deepening his research into music history and contemporary sound. Mathan's approach to music discovery remains research-driven, often finding records through literature, film and other mediums. Drawing inspiration from film scores and carrying forward the technological philosophies of Kraftwerk, Dopplereffekt, and Drexciya, he continues to develop his distinct musical voice through careful study and experimentation.

Operating across visual and sonic territories, his practice encompasses art direction, copywriting, design communication, and strategic thinking—disciplines that inform his approach to musical curation and world-building.

Mathan’s sound delivers cold, minimal dystopian electro with sleek robotic grooves and cinematic tension—sci-fi atmosphere that draws from classic Detroit rhythms through new wave influences. The palette spans electro, electroclash, dark techno, EBM and industrial, creating ultra-stylised sonic narratives heavy with noir atmosphere. You could say it’s perfectly suited for a scene in a Nicolas Winding Refn film. His mixing style features original flow and loop-based blending that reacts to the floor while maintaining the stark, cinematic tension that defines his sets.

Having emerged from the dark to play at various occasions—the Projector (2019), the Mason Pop up (2023), Shutter Rhythms (2024), The Backroom (2024), Santai (2025) and most recently at the inimitable Headquarters (2025)—he remains immersed in deep research and exploration to produce his originals while seeking new venues to deliver his sonic worlds.
