The second batch of remixes from the album "Love & Dancing On The Brink" by FANATICO X (Jorge Socarrás & Mathias Schaffhäuser) will be released on July 08. This snippetmix might give you a first impression. The Mixes provide a vibe for any hour with Chocolate Garage Productions, Indoor Man, Ryan Crosson and Made From Shadows dropping dub disco, cosmic house, minimal rollers and indie dance stylings alongside the FANATICO X club version of Extrasensory.

Bio:
Fanatico X is a project of DJ-producer Mathias Schaffhäuser and vocalist Jorge Socarrás from New York, now based in Madrid, and founded in 2010.
The project came about when Mathias did a remix of a track from the Patrick Cowley and Jorge Socarrás's vintage 70’s album, “Catholic“, which was retro-released in 2009 by Macro Music, Berlin. The two men had never met, but Socarrás contacted Schaffhäuser to say how much he liked the remix. Schaffhäuser, who was an old fan of Socarrás’ 80’s band, Indoor Life, replied suggesting that perhaps they might work together sometime. Through subsequent emails both expressed how they’d each been wanting to start a cooperation, eventually leading to Socarrás going to Köln in August 2010 and spending a week recording with Mathias in his studio. The two had remarkable chemistry from the start, working together as if they were longtime music partners. Indeed Socarrás felt that in Schaffhäuser’s envelope-pushing minimalism he’d found a contemporary successor to his earlier collaborators. 12 years later, Fanatico X has released 2 albums and a remix compilation, plus several EPs. September 2022 will see the 3rd longplayer "Beneath Your Feet", again on Hallucienda Records.

Still Searching is the first single from the third FANATICO X album Beneath Your Feet, which will be released in autumn 2025. The track is a reworking of the song Searching, which singer Jorge Socarrás wrote in the early 80s with then bassist Bob Hoffnar for their former band Indoor Life. Searching was first released on the second Indoor Life album in 1983, and in two more versions on a 1985 EP produced by Mike Thorne (Wire, Soft Cell, Bronski Beat, etc). 

Continuing the song’s evolution, Mathias Schaffhäuser transports the composition to the present day, making new references to the Hi-NRG and disco that influenced the original. The result is Still Searching, a highly energized song version that connects the decades on different levels - maximally condensed in the radio edit, and multi-layered in the album version.

In his club mix, Mathias concentrates on the technoid, abstract middle section of the song, steering the original's center of gravity further leftfield.

Artist Bio:

Mathias Schaffhäuser has been on the techno, house and minimal scene since 1994, when his first EP was released on Definitive Records - and has been known for his wide stylistic range ever since. 
His 10th solo album “Singing About It” was released on October 11, 2024 with, yes, lots of vocals and more song-oriented tracks than on any of his other longplayers. Call it Indie Pop, Art Pop, or, like Angie Portmann, radio maker at “Late Nite Sounds” proposed: Cosmic art pop. And, of course, still with house and techno genes in all tracks.
And the next album is already out: Mathias' project FANATICO X, which he runs together with Jorge Socarrás (Indoor Life / Compost Rec., Patrick Cowley und Jorge Socarrás / macro rec.), released its third LP on Oct 10, 2025. The first single, “Still Searching" received great feedback from Justin Strauss: „Listening to it I’m imagining the record that Bryan Ferry and Patrick Cowley never made, but sounding totally modern and now.“ And Dark Entries label maker Josh Cheon wrote: „One of my absolute favorite Indoor Life songs gets a modern reworking that is perfect for any fog-filled dance floor, while Mathias Schaffhäuser's remix ups the tempo and NRG for dark room pursuits.”

2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of his label WARE Records. To celebrate this incredible number, the EP “25 Years Of Ware” was released in June with 4 new tracks by the label maker. In November 23, another special EP was released with a vocal version of one of Mathias' classics, the song “6 Uhr morgens”, which first appeared on his debut album “Lido Hotel” on Force Tracks Records in 1999. The new version comes in several mixes and with an atmospheric remix by Pawas. The EP is Schaffhäuser's second release on the Canadian label Suleiman Records.

His 9th solo album “Biotopical” was released in 2022. It combines tracks released on Biotop Records between 2015 and 2020 as an “endless mix”, similar to what Schaffhäuser did on his third album “From 4 to 6 a.m.” on Blaou Sounds in 2002 - again with subtle creative changes, transitions and overdubs. Two EPs were also released in 2022, one by Mathias' project FANATICO X called “On The Brink, Vol. 2” with remixes by Indoor Man, Chocolate Garage Prod., Ryan Crosson and Made From Shadows. And the solo EP “Magnificent Madness”, his debut on Suleiman Records.

Back in the days:
Other releases from Mathias have appeared on Compost, Tic Tac Toe Rec., Kompakt, Force Inc., Mo's Ferry Productions, Multicolor, BluFin Records, Adjunct, WIR Recordings, Blaou Sounds and many others. In 1997 he started WARE, releasing 102 EPs until today. His album „Lido Hotel“ with the well known track „Nice To Meet You“, released in 2000, marked his breakthrough in the techno scene. 2001 saw his massive club hit „Hey Little Girl“, and in 2002 „Musik ohne Bass“ permeated the clubs. In April 2005 he released his album „Coincidance“, its title track successfully remixed by Trentemøller. On his album „Unequal Equality“ (2009) Mathias collaborated with Lucy, Alex Smoke, Xhin, And.id, Benjamin Brunn and many others. He also produced remixes for Steve Bug (LoverBoy), Luomo (Tessio), Pan-Pot, German Kraut Rock legend Faust, [A]pendics.Shuffle, Goldfrapp, Indoor Life, Northern Lite, Dapayk & Padberg – to name a few.

As DJ, Schaffhäuser’s motto at the turntables is: “Purism sucks!” The quality of the music is what’s important, not sheer functionality and trendiness. His sets are usually very varied and range from his very own composition style to underground house to fancy niche techno.
