A linchpin of the classic Washington DC-based label Yoshitoshi Recordings, CJ Jeff's forthcoming 'Eye Contact' EP is a supreme three-tracker that is primed and ready to send floors into a frenzy.

Ahead of the release date on March 29, Yoshitoshi has handed over the German Power House artist Mathias Kaden's remix of the EP title track. The tune's jacking incantations that thoroughly convince its revelers to "keep on dancing" is buttoned up by crisp percussion and a stocky bassline that simply won't quit.

Whether it is Openening, Primetime or Aftershow, @mathiaskaden ' intuition for the crowd and location, proves each time again that he lives for his profession. His music is both, distinctly ambitious and refreshing. Following the House music of the 90s, he wo..

For a while, he has been using different types of percussion elements. The result is an enjoyable rhythm, which communicates with its audience in a very particular way. In a playful approach, he creates an incredible repertoire of feelings that reproduces within the crowd. Mathias’ various sets include the following sound features: funky, freaky, dashing, dub, slamming, enriched by African and South American percussions. 

Inspired and motivated by the first House & Techno DJs at Bioxultra in Gera he got his first turntables at the age of 14. One could argue it is necessary to live wherever the sound rises at a particular time. However, Mathias draws on his own strengths. Away from sated urban in- and output, he has always maintained the objectivity for his music. 

For 7 years, he has been the resident DJ of the well-known club Muna. He is not only DJing there, but he also supports talented folks within the Freshblood project. Additionally, he is jointly responsible for the Klanglauf events at Kassablanca in Jena, as a DJ and organizer. Together with Marek Hemman, Mathias released 4 EPs on the label Freude am Tanzen and 4 own EPs on Vakant. Amongst others, he also did remixes for Matthias Tanzmann, Onur Özer, Dapayk, Anja Schneider, Daniel Stefanik and Trentemöller. 

DJing and, later on, the production of electronic music have been his occupation since 1996. With his style of work, Mathias joins those, who refuse to produce and release music excessively. Thus, the necessity to make records that will remain long lasting is one of the guiding motifs of his profession.

Der ewig wiederkehrende Viervierteltakt war der pulsierende Antreiber dieser Nacht. Das Blut schoss durch meinen Körper und Endorphine verteilten sich bis in die letzten Winkel meines ständig zuckenden Bewegungsapparates. Der Nebel versperrte im sowieso spärlich beleuchtenden Raum jede Sicht. Daher war es sinnfrei geworden das visuelle Zentrum unserer Sinne noch übermäßig zu bemühen. Wir saugten die Energie der Musik, der Bewegung und der positiven Gedanken mit dem Rest, den unser Körper zu bieten hatte, auf und gaben sie durch unsere wilden Tanzeinlagen mit doppelter Intensität wieder in den Raum. Dieser erhitzte sich unkontrollierbar und die Stimmung war am kochen. Gefangen in Trance der Synergien entwickelten wir ein unglaubliches Durchhaltevermögen. Über Stunden pumpten wir unsere letzten Kraftreserven aus den Körper bis nicht nur unser Körper, sondern auch unser Geist völlig erschöpft war.
Mehr träumend als wach wackelte ich vom linken auf den rechten Fuß und wieder zurück. Meine Augen nahmen schon lange nur noch verschwommene Umrisse war und auch die restlichen Sinne schienen ihre Funktionstüchtigkeit nach und nach zu verlieren. So nahm ich völlig ausgelaugt nur noch wenig von meiner Umgebung wahr bis schließlich die Erinnerungen an das weitere Geschehen aus meinem Kopf verschwanden. Nur Fetzen blieben im Gedächtnis hängen, deren Glaubwürdigkeit ich nicht mehr validieren konnte. Eine kalte ungewohnte Umgebung mit unfreundlichen Menschen taucht als Zerrbild immer wieder auf. Diese Orte konnte nicht im Club gewesen sein. Dieser Ort in meiner Erinnerung wirkte so befremdlich und steril, er konnte nicht im liebevollen Tanzparadies sein, welches mich den Rest des abends beheimatet hatte. 
Am nächsten morgen fand ich mich zerknirscht in meinem Bett wieder. Am meinem Arm entdeckte ich die Kapsel mit der roten Flüssigkeit, die ich doch eigentlich vor dem Club abgenommen hatte.

Nur wenige Artists schaffen es ihre Zuhörer in diesen zauberhaften rauschartigen Zustand zu versetzen. Einer von ihnen ist zweifelsohne Mathias Kaden, der die Tanzflächen dieser Welt schon seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt mit seiner Musik beglückt und in Trance versetzt. Wir freuen uns euch diesen Meister der elektronischen Klänge präsentieren zu können.

20 years in the game is an achievement worth celebrating,  particularly in the fickle world of underground dance music. DJ Clé and Mike Vamp have both left an indelible mark on the culture, both individually and as the Märtini Brös.  

To celebrate, the pair have commissioned a number of remixes for some of their most well known work, and this EP showcases some highlights. 

The Butch remix of 2004’s electro-clash-tinged Big and Dirty is a suitably energetic affair - firing percussion and a restless, edgy beat propel the track forward. The iconic vocals by Eric D. Clark feature strongly, wrapped around a sick acidic synth. 

Flash appeared on their debut album 'Pläy' in 2002 and is one of their biggest hits. Here it gets remixed by the Kompakt legend Michael Mayer - his 606 remix is a deep, rolling affair for the house heads, bringing a few new levels to the original from 2001. The instrumental mix sets aside the vocals for maximum dancefloor focus. 

Babyhaze first dropped in 1999, and here is remixed by tech-house legend Mathias Kaden. The track is given a 2019 overhaul, 
spicing up the groove in the signature style of the German DJ and producer.
