disCerN - Deep House Amsterdam Subjekt Podcast #001

Timmo’s debut Drumcode release ‘We Beat On’ carries a flow through out that gives Timmo his own unique sound that has captured the ears of many highly revered techno DJ’s around the world. Timmo uses hypnotic sounds and phrases whilst he always maintains a thumping techno beat that underlies all the tracks within this EP to maximum effect. Furthermore, there is a ghostly feel amongst Timmo’s tracks that really provide him with his acquired sound, the pads in ‘Canvas’ are a beautiful reminder of this. Timmo also uses strong synth stabs to full effect that juxtapose against the drums to help create the tension and aggression that is present within techno.

All hail the master. Few artists have had as much influence on a genre than Michel Amato. The Hacker has been creating dark, brooding, atmospheric and unique electronic music since he started producing over 20 years ago.

For our In Session mix, The Hacker merges the likes of Louisahhh!!! & Maelstrom, Djedjotronic, Kraftwerk, New York Transit Authority to create an electro journey like no other. There's also an unreleased cut from the man himself. Prepare yourselves, this one goes in hard.

It's no secret that we're backing the unique and forward-thinking sounds of Teki Latex's Sound Pellegrino imprint. Next up on the label is Joe Howe, otherwise better known as Ben Butler & Mousepad. The Glaswegian has impressed significantly and now he brings us his debut EP and you can expect eight tracks of forward-thinking and impressive electronic music.

The EP called 'EXEP', which stands for 'EXtra Extended Play' dropped at the end of last month and to celebrate the release we are streaming the delightful 'Dream D'. This summery glitcher oozes groove and perfectly showcases the sound that Howe is pushing, one that's completely his own.

Indie three-piece White Lies are no strangers to the bright lights of stardom. Their debut album 'To Lose My Life' was globally recognised and soon a hectic festival season and world tour followed. Two albums down the line they're now fully established as ones to check out at any opportunity.

Last year they released 'Big TV' and giving the title track from the album the remix treatment is prolific German duo Tube &amp; Berger. Regular Beatport chart toppers and masters of thick, underground house, the duo have reworked the track to perfection.

„Amygdala“ is Koze’s Sgt. Pepper. It’s an unreal 78-minute walk through Koze’s mind, complete with moods, intensities, sounds and scenes as yet unheard of. It feels more like a double album, urging you to turn over and change the records time and time again. "Amygdala" amazes by its sheer musicality, deepness, and its  ethereal sound design; it’s a kaleidoscope of a great variety of soundscapes where you keep discovering new nuances even after listening to it a thousand times. Nobody else could unite artists like Caribou and Dirk von Lotzow, Hildegard Knef and Mathew Dear, Ada and Milosh in such an organic way and on one and the same record as Koze did. There’s never been anything like it.

He weaves new garments around the a capella parts of his guests, garments that only he can tailor, and that’s how the album, for all the diversity of its artists, sounds consistently homogeneous and in the true style of Kosi Kos. It’s all about “the courage to dare”, about letting voices resonate undisguised in all their authentic peculiarity.  About creating  truthfulness.

How much can you cut out, when does the flame die down? On the other hand, under which circumstances could it even burn for ever?

The album, which in large parts has been composed in a Spanish fishing village, starts off with Balinese gamelan sounds from which a relaxed discoid bass peels off, caressed by mystic backwards basslines, balafon resonances and slide guitar chords. You can hear the ceaseless chirping, twittering and cheeping from all the treetops of Koze's exotic jungle.
