Gwo Ka is music born in Guadeloupe and stands for big drum. It is the union of music, dance, and spirit. 
Two drummers are playing a specific rhythm as the base. The “Makè”, the third drummer, is placed at the center to follow, feel and whisper any of the dancers gestures. He matches the rhythm and energy of the dancers, becoming their shadow, and establishing a real dialogue between them. 
With my project I want to translate the rhythms of Gwo Ka in every upcoming mix. 
There are seven specific rhythms.
This one is "Mennde", dedicated to celebration and escape.

Author of three massive iterations on SK_eleven since the drop of his debut instalment on the label in 2021, New York DJ and producer Holden Federico aka 90s Techno Redux undoubtedly counts as one of the North-American scene's most exciting talents. For BASEMENT 008, we've turned things over to Holden Federico.   A favorite of the NY underground, Federico holds a reputation both for his comprehensive knowledge of techno's most obscure corners and for his capacity to channel his sprawling collection into DJ sets of exceptional poise and vibrancy. Raised in Pennsylvania, an early fascination with software production led him from live music into an obsession with track building and the limitless possibilities of electronic music. In 2020, he launched @90stechno.redux, an online platform that catalogues some of the finest, and often nearly-unheard, examples of the genre's golden age. Drawing heavily on the Detroit-Berlin axis, Federico exemplifies the focus and discernment of a purist, engaging with techno both as a true art form and as a near-spiritual discipline.

BASEMENT introduces BASEMENT Archives, a new podcast series highlighting standout sets recorded live in the club. 

First up is the impromptu b2b2b2b from Fadi Mohem, Kancheli, NDRX and Philippa Pacho that closed out last April’s Bassiani takeover. If you were there, you know how special this night was. Ten minutes before we planned to wrap the night, it was decided that the music simply could not stop. The four artists took over the booth in BASEMENT, and what resulted was 3 hours of euphoric techno that sent everyone out on an incredible high. These are moments that can’t be planned, curated or recreated. When they happen, you pray the recorder is on and running. Thank god it was.

A high-spirited artist and indefatigable producer, Mathys reinvents the syncopation through a mental and rude 4-decks techno, embodying the intense, concentrated and visceral, inviting for emancipation. 

From his multiple EP's released on MORD, Orbe, HAYES and Mutual Rytm recently, his music is fiery and frenetic. This spatial dimension is essential to him as a musician, where tension and reflection are combined in the space he endlessly recreates through his sets. 

Mathys Lenne is the one who sets the pace, pushing the melody to its rawest limits and establishing order with finesse.
