"Don't Be Cruel" is a song recorded by Elvis Presley and written by Otis Blackwell in 1956. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. In 2004, it was listed #197 in Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The song is currently ranked as the 173rd greatest song of all time, as well as the sixth best song of 1956, by Acclaimed Music.

Billy Swan, though, was 33 (and in common, seemingly, with everyone in the 70s, looked a decade older), and he did know how life could let you down. His version is of a man who's realised he's lost everything. Coming out of the chorus, an acoustic guitar picks out a woozy, dizzy descending pattern, the sound of that fall in your stomach when the realisation strikes that something awful has happened. Even as he sings "Please let's forget the past/ The future looks bright ahead," you're sure it's anything but. By the time of the marriage proposition in the final verse, virtually all the instruments have dropped out, as if Swan's now dreaming, divorced from the reality that his relationship is indisputably over. It's a record that has some of the near-hallucinatory clarity of extreme tiredness, when everything about the world looks somehow altered.

Matija - Low Dance

Story :

Completely exhausted by gigs after which he had to sleep for three hours, Josh Wink went to his studio to work on the track, but the only thing that he could squeeze out of himself was laughter.

“So I said f**k it I’ll record myself laughing.” Back then, he was fascinated by, as he called it, Chicago minimalism: the less, the better. Which meant a Roland TR-909 with elements of classic house and experimental acid. Sound like it’s unfinished but interesting — it’ll do.

Don’t laugh was not recorded seriously — it’s a typical sketch: hypnotic, throbbing, diabolic. And besides, it resembled his previous release, How’s the music. Because it was recorded just for fun. But after this, Mike Weiss from a New York label, Nevrous, called. After hearing a funny demo by Wink, which he played as his background music, he immediately asked Wink to send the record to the headquarters of the label. It was Wink’s first big commercial success. Soon he would release Higher state of consciousness.

Driven by the desire to engage and express himself musically, KAYYAK moves around Zurich’s vivid nightlife with endless curiosity and excitement.
Institutions such as Club Zukunft and Kasheme have become vital foundations for many of Kay’s musical endeavours as a musician and DJ. Spaces that give him the creative freedom to plant the seeds of his dreams.

The majority of his time is dedicated to creating music. Mostly alone, but with regular visits from his friend and mentor Kalabrese and others.
Under the moniker “Arnau Obiols & KAYYAK” Kay also records songs with his Catalan brother-in-law.
 
Kay feels most at home to release his music with Kalabrese’s imprint “Rumpelmusig", as well as the Munich based label "Compost Records".
The debut LP “Make No Time” in collaboration with Kalabrese released in 2020 gained great popularity with A-side becoming a Rumpelhit.

From than on came the first "Arnau Obiols & KAYYAK” releases incl. Remixes by Kalabrese & MLiR on Compost Records, as well as guest appearances on Kalabrese’s Album "Let Love Rumpel Pt. II"

The newest songs "Dreaming Place", "Let Love Find Itself" & "Mönchhof Amour" came in summer on Rumpelmusig. Mönchhof Amour (ft. his wife Xenia), has become a song for the hearts in Zurich’s nightlife with crowds singing along the "Once i know i have to find my soul i’ll let you know"
