Tube & Berger - When They Come

Kevin McKay might be best known for his cover versions and remixes. He has taken on some big songs (”Work”, “Gimme Gimme”) and delivered bona fide dancefloor weapons to the hands of thousands of DJs and millions of music fans. Nostalgia is so big these days that these huge songs often overshadow his original work. Over the last couple of years, he has been returning to his roots as an original, deep house artist, bringing the creativity and energy that made his 90s releases as Muzique Tropique, Sixteen Souls, or Studio Blue so beloved back in the day. To celebrate this, we are releasing a collection of his favourites, titled, quite simply, “Some Originals (Volume One)”. To add a unique flavour, he has delivered a brand-new single, “Deep Trouble,” and an update on his collaboration with Mallin and Nyla. Much like his production on Mylo’s classic “Destroy Rock’n’Roll”, we think this provides the perfect combination of dancefloor-ready sounds and poolside listening. Enjoy.

Kevin McKay - Deep Trouble (Extended Mix)

Mallin follows up his killer collab with Sam Dexter with another one of his classic deep house "lullabies." For this release, he teams up with Kevin McKay (something they have done before, back in 2020). The two of them enlist the vocal talents of Brazilian chanteuse Nyla and deliver a beautiful, original, deep house groove. Luscious Rhodes and a subtle, bumping bass form the backing for NYLA's heart-stopping top line. Add in layers of lilting percussion and some sparkling synth sprinkles, and you have a perfect Ibizan sunset anthem. Gorgeous.

It has been a great while after Hanne & Lore’s first appearances with a remix for Tube & Berger’s “The Puzzle” in 2010 and the famous “It Began In Africa” Charity Compilation, which has been a worldwide success for the label by the end of 2009. 
Matching with this years’ summer season the guys now present a sunny track which is going to shake the open airs and early daytime events supplied by great weather. 
Tube & Berger provide their own version for the indoor and later time of the day with more progressive deepness. 
It’s another short release with two titles only, covering the diversity of atmospheres to give you the appropriate tune selection for any time!

We are delighted to welcome Alev Tav back to the label. Last time she was on GU, she was treading a more techno path, delivering 4/4 slammers for peak-time DJs like Paco Osuna. Since then, she has won a Pete Tong DJ Academy Award and relocated to Ibiza. Slots at Hi, and other prime spots have followed. Here she delves into her Eastern European roots and forms a collaboration with legendary Lithuanian singer Alanas Chosnau. This is classic, GU deep house at its finest - sweet strings, deep bass, and a beautiful vocal. What more could you ask for?

Damian Lazarus has been a true wizard of the underground, conjuring club anthems that cut through the fog with hypnotic energy. With "Magickal Remixed (Part I)," he's opened a portal into a whole new dimension. Mat.Joe began as a project between Matthias and Johannes, two young men based in Berlin with a deep connection to music. Back in 2006, Rap, Breakdance and Skateboarding were the passions that kickstarted their friendship and this deep connection is reflected in their music. In 2008, they formed the producer team Twomanics and concentrated on authentic and credible hip hop productions for independent artists.
As of 2024, Matthias takes on his music career as an individual, carrying the legacy that Mat.Joe has built over the last decade. Over the years, Mat.Joe has developed their trademark sound of house beats paired with rhythmic soul and hip-hop elements. The result is deep and dancefloor-qualified, warm and rough. Inspiration is found everywhere between subway rides, late night showers and favorite bars - and new ideas are always on the way, evolving with the always-changing culture of dance music and growing with the artist.
