We’re happy to finally share the first instalment of our new mix series titled ‘Inspired By’, where we get artists on to produce a mix based on their favourite places around the world - not your conventional mix series 🌎

First up, we have none other than @radiumliverpool’s @tomlythgoe_ who’s delivered an excellent 2 hour mix based on his experiences at @dkmntl’s Main Stage, taking us from day the time 120bpms through to the night time 150+bpms 🚀

Here’s what he had to say about it:

“Dekmantel festival is spectacularly curated, with each stage honed in on certain sonics, featuring DJs at the top of their game. The mainstage however is a culmination of everything at the festival, besides its mind boggling production the beauty of it is you can catch anything from waistline grooving house classics, karate chopping breaks all the way to blistering techno and electro. A monumental task to try and encapsulate that in a 2 hour mix, but here goes nothing. Featuring tracks I have heard there that have left a lasting feeling with me as well as tracks I think would go down well there.”

Over twenty years on from its original release in 1994, ‘God Made Me Phunky’ still sounds fresh as ever. Produced by MD X-Press (aka Chicago House legend Mike Dunn), the layering of garage beats, an addictive bassline and Mike’s distinctive vocals make for a track that, with its self-proclaiming and uplifting message, has stayed relevant more than two decades later. This updated release includes contemporary remixes from Franky Rizardo and Marlon Hoffstadt, alongside some mixes from the archives from the likes of X-Press 2, Harry Romero, Groove Assassin and Mike Dunn himself. Izmabad (aka Simbad & Karizma) also step up, with an effortlessly lushed-out, grooving mix, making this a must-cop package.
