Jupiter Pace kick starts proceedings with ‘The Beat’, a deep and sultry production featuring scintillating synths and a smooth low-end, before in.deed return to Kittball with the melodic and mesmerising ‘Love And Happiness’. Whoami then delivers a bass fuelled cut titled ‘Rehab’ before label regulars Chemical Surf pair up with Bondi in a serene slice of House named ‘Losing Abilities’. Dashdot ‘Hope’ is perhaps the most atmospheric track on the package with its soaring pads and dusky elements, making way for Modul Kollektiv’s arpeggio heavy ‘Breathe’ leaving Pazkal to conclude the release with the tribal inspired ‘Gotta Let Go’.

Summer&#8217;s just around the corner, with the Ibiza and festival season ready to roll. What better way to kick things off than with the fifth volume of Great Stuff Grooves? 

Dutch master Rene Amesz heads up the package in his inimitable style with Some Things Must Be Done, featuring one of the year&#8217;s most unusual vocals from MC Stretch. Amesz serves up a deep take on his chunked-up tribal sound that pares down his distinct sound to its sheer essence, while Stretch delivers a politicised spoken word diatribe which is light years away from the usual throwaway house music vocal. It&#8217;s a classy, succinct track that still carries a lot of weight in its stride - and there’s a dub version in the package too. 

Techno fiend Ant Brooks steps up next with Modul, an infectious little roller with a supremely funky bassline, energetic yet delicate percussive patterns and just a little tribal inflection to make things chug along nicely. It might seem innocuous on first listen, but fire it through a big system and you&#8217;ll see, hear and feel its undeniable impact. 

Upcoming French producer Maverickz rounds off with Got Back The Funk, continuing the tribal theme with some nifty percussive grooves and rolling rhythms which come together to make a killer shuffling tech house track. It&#8217;s another exercise in simplicity and space, with low-slung sub bass and taut claps firing the whole thing along beautifully. One to get the floor moving early on, or to add some heads-down meat later on in the night.
