City Wolf was born in a small downtown Los Angeles apartment in the summer of 2018. Clayton Stroope, a former VH1 You Oughta Know artist and the vocalist and songwriter of the US Gold selling, and Top 40 charting piano-based pop band Thriving Ivory wanted to stretch his legs and take a departure from the familiar.

Clayton grew up listening to the harsh programmed drum samples of Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode, but absorbed vocal influence from emotive pop singers like Rob Thomas, George Michael, and Prince. His desire to combine these ingredients onto one musical canvas led him to the door of veteran Los Angeles producer TheUnder.

New York City based Matt Beilis grew up a classical piano prodigy - but making music for a living was always something that seemed like a pipe dream. That was until he started singing and posting cover videos on YouTube. It wasn't long before Matt's unique voice and style led to shout-outs and shares by stars like Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, and Ashton Kutcher. Matt quickly grew into an internationally touring act with college tours, and support slots for multi-platinum acts around the world like Secondhand Serenade, Smokey Robinson, and Jay Leno.
