Mixmag Mix of the Week: Plump DJs DJ mix

Plump DJs - Hump Rock - Stanton Warriors Remix EDIT

Enjoy this live recording of the Plump DJs (Grand Hotel Recordings) from the Space Cowboys' 13th annual Breakfast of Champions in San Francisco on New Year's Day. The Plumps were a surprise, unannounced addition to the line-up this year and to the delight of an unsuspecting crowd, they lit up the Funktion One stage as the sun was setting on yet another epic B.O.C. Big thanks to Lee and Andy for rocking Breakfast of Champions and for making this recording available to The RIPEcast. We hope you like it!

Plumps DJs are internationally renown UK DJ/Producer duo Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, whose passion for innovation and non-conformist attitude to electronic music has fuelled their fire for over a decade. Their unmistakeable signature sound has earned them recent remix commissions from the likes of Deadmau5, Mark Ronson, Moby and Orbital while their four deck live show has lead to countless international tours and shows at London's lead music venues XOYO, Fabric and the Nest.  Self admitted suckers for bass and 'the groove' Gardner&Rous fuse Electro-House, Rave, Acid, Breakbeat and Techno into their own unique style they call 'Plump Music'. They have received years of unprecedented cross genre support from the electro and bass music scenes, and their success continues to grow with their well supported  'Dirty Weekend' mix on newly formed record label, Grand Hotel Records.   

Dirty Weekend is the appropriately named new mix from the Plumps, containing dance floor focused music from recent Plump inspirations The Loops of Fury, Detboi, Reset!, Nom De Strip, Blatta&Inesha, Urchins and Will Bailey. Plus sterling exclusive remixes from longtime compadres NAPT, Stanton Warriors and Peo De Pitte. It also features original music from freshly signed Grand Hotel Records artistes, Bonsai Kat and SUBMO.  Dirty Weekend has gathered support and plays from the likes of BBC Radio 1 DJ's Annie Mac, Mista Jam and Annie Nightingale, galvanizing an already established list of Plump enthusiasts which includes A. Track, Zinc Porter Robinson, Laidback luke, Armand Van Helden, Norman Cook and Carl Cox.

The Plump DJs have a compelling history of success, cemented by their musical collaborations with legendary vocalists Gary Numan, Jermaine Jackson and Louise Rhodes, a ten year residency at Fabric Nightclub and over 1200 international shows.  They are true innovators of sound who proudly co-created the popular breakbeat genre of the last decade with their initial releases on Fingerlickin Records.  Known as pioneers of production whose shared passion for electronic music and the art of making people dance, they have inspired a generation of dance floor experiments.
