Second completed song. Sounds kind of like the ending credits for a game that doesn't exist.

B Minor Slow Convolved

This is my third completed song. Seeing improvement.

Learned a lot about transitioning between sections with this one. It's made entirely with short chippy samples from PXTONE (music software from Pixel, the creator of Cave Story) loaded into the Renoise sampler.

This is my first time experimenting with, and perhaps over-using sampler effects like glides, re-triggers, and arpeggios.

For this one, I composed the initial chords and melody in Hookpad.

My entry for the Soundevotion Competition 92. I admit I spent more time goofing around with samples and effects than I did actually writing the song.

There is a lot of use of the random overlap feature in the keyzones here. For the drums, I'm using Vermona_DRM1 which provides four of each type of sound. From the REAL C64 bass I have a pattern such that each note plays three random samples from a set of six. Depending on how the random function in Renoise works, there should be 20 possible sounds. Other sounds used are layered samples from REAL C64 leads, Nexus Poppy Bells, and one instance of Obxd.

when tasked with making "frog style music", the first thing i did was use my phone to record some frogs chirping. using that as a jumping off point, i layered some randomized arpeggios to evoke the shimmer of sunlight off of a pond. the next section has these bright FM pads, deep bass, and powerful drums... i wanted it to feel like you're stepping outside, and your senses are overwhelmed by the sunlight.
as for the lyrics... i'm going through a lot of major changes in my life, and so the frogs (transformed from tadpoles), as well as the start of spring, are meant to represent a major rebirth, a new beginning. the second half of the lyrics, for me means that even if you might feel like you're alone, and no one acknowledges you, as long as a single person appreciates something that you put into the world, then that's enough to make life worth living.
