This is a bit of a change for me. As I come back into music after several years away, I've found that the genres I grew up on have now changed their names and how they sound. I find it interesting that Techno isn't the pounding acid rhythms of the 2000s, it's closer to what I would have called Hard Trance. Like the stuff Scott Bond used to put out. 
I've noticed a lack of cymbals in general across multiple genres which is something early 90s hardcore (rave) used to do. 
Because I love Year Zero from Ghost, I wanted to use that perfect sample at the start of the record, so here is Lucifer's Theme.

Lucifer's Theme

Being on the opposite side of 40, I grew up in the 1980s. It was a decade of consumption and plenty. Nobody cared about the environment or recycling and everyone wanted to be number one.
As a general rule of thumb, I don't like the 80s. The fashion was terrible, the music was terrible but the films and TV were amazing! Stranger Things has highlighted the kind of TV we got to watch such as Legends, The Goonies and Nightmare on Elm Street. The popularity of the programme has seen a boost in prominence of synthwave. I do like synthwave because it captures the essence of those films and plays on people's nostalgia.
Good To Me is my second track to use synthwave sounds and moving forward I'll be utilising it a lot more.

Good To Me

I've recently been listening to a lot of Synthwave and absolutely love it. As a child of the 80s, I was never a fan of the decade, but there were some notable finer points to it such as the ground breaking television and films which embellished a decade of consumerism and plenty. 
Climate change was only just starting to be spoken about (yes we knew about it back then) so nobody really cared about it then because nobody understood it.
The programme Stranger Things really captures the feeling of the 80s with it's crossovers into various films of the era such as ET, Goonies and Legend.
Being a house producer I wanted to make a Synthwave project but add elements of House, so you'll find this track to be more punchy with bigger builds. I like the way the two very different genres have merged in this and I hope you do too.

Coconut Beach (Extended Mix)

Following on from my first House/Synthwave collaboration, Gateway is the B side of this project.
I've pulled in the reins on the House influences and let the Synthwave be more apparent. 
You might have clicked that these tracks are named after the first two levels of  the iconic 80s arcade game Outrun. I intend to make more Synthouse tracks and will name them after each level!

Vulnerable was one of the first tracks I made and boy does it show ;)
I wanted to improve it so I used a better piano riff and tightened the lyrics a bit more to put them in synch.

I hope you like this version. I've tried to keep much of it the same in structure as it's not a remix, but an upgrade of sorts. It's a new version, so the original is still in my library for you to compare.

Though I expect it'll take some digging out...

I've always enjoyed listening to hip hop and one of the many genres that I hold dear to my heart is jungle from the 1990s. I released a version previously with the swearing cut out and I've been toying with the decision to release the uncensored version. But it slaps so damned hard that I couldn't not.

Pharoahe Monch - Simon Says (Larkfield Rude Version)

After the arguable runaway success of the "Remixes Nobody Asked For" I was approached by Martin Wattinger from The Wattingers. He was releasing a new project album and asked me to make a remix of his record IN Shadows Deep.

I wanted to reflect thew darkness of the record and build a sense of anticipation.

This is my first proper offensive into hard drum n bass. I did a remix of Pharoahe Monch a few months back, but this is much harder and I'd love some feedback 🙂

I'm thinking of releasing it to Spotify and wondered what this fab community thinks about it?

I normally make vocal dnb under my Larkfield pseudonym. I've been itching to make something more brutal and it wasn't until I got hold of this excellent quality acapella of Eminem in his last rap battle on 8 Mile that I gave it a serious attempt.

Also, should I release a clean version and a sweary version? Just a clean version? This is new territory for me as I never commercially released the Pharoahe Monch track 🙂

I've moved on a lot from my earlier work. I'm really loving the 80s style synthwave / cyberpunk sounds. 
The Code is a little harder than some of my earlier tracks such as Coconut Beach and Gateway. I wanted something that you could possibly listen to if you were in a nightclub in a cyberpunk universe.
