"Solvitur Ambulando (Spring version)" is a new piano based single from Matt Mereport (out now !). The piece is named after the Latin phrase “Solvitur Ambulando”, meaning "it is solved by walking". 

It was influenced by the mental relief a walk (urban, countryside or otherwise) can create in these hectic, stressful and anxious times we’re in. 

The piece was released to coincide with this year’s Piano Day (29th March) organised by Nils Frahm. "Solvitur Ambulando (Spring version)" is included on the official Piano Day Spotify playlist, curated by Nils. It’s also available on the usual streaming and download sites.

Biciclo (Ver B) is a piano led piece released to celebrate this year's Piano Day organsied by Nils Frahm. The tracks has its roots in classical minimalism but with mixed with elements of jazz and abstract electronics.

Split Digraph lives in the hinterland between outright electropop and more leftfield experimental music of the likes that Warp and Rephlex records made famous. It can live as happily on a sunny dance-floor as it does nestled in earbuds on a winter’s woodland walk.

The camera lucida projects an optical superimposition of the subject being viewed, onto the surface upon which the artist is drawing. The artist sees both scene and drawing surface simultaneously, as in a photographic double exposure. This allows the artist to duplicate key points of the scene on the drawing surface, thus aiding in the accurate rendering of perspective.

Distant Echo was written especially for this year's Piano Day, which is organised by pianist Nils Frahm. Piano Day is organised to celebrate the piano in all its guises and takes place on the 88th day of the year (the number of keys on a piano), which this year is March 29th.

The track reflects something of the dark mornings, tumultuous episodes and occasional serenity it was written within.

Matt Mereport emerged from the Manchester ship canal to set up home on a small wooded northern hilltop. Armed with a guitar, voice and electronics he creates what he refers to as “music” though many disagree with this tag. Sometimes it’s heavily electronic, sometimes it’s heavily acoustic. Sometimes it’s heavily weighted. It tends to change from day to day. Much like his socks.
