Keepsakes, the alias of British-New Zealand producer and DJ James Barrett, has been a strong and distinctive voice in techno since rising to fame through his Stygian Concrete Works and Weapons Grade Manic EPs back in 2014. Since then he has showcased his powerful and menacing, yet often cheeky and playful, productions on influential labels including HAVEN, South London Analogue Material, Perc Trax, MORD, and Mindcut.

He told us what inspired him to record this podcast for us and how his pandemic yea worked out so far:
"The past year has been a very challenging time for the entire international techno scene, but out of this situation a lot of amazing music has been made - this mix is very much a tribute to that. It's mostly made up of new and unreleased music from myself, Haven affiliates, and artists I love that was created after the pandemic hit in March 2020. Usually, when I record a mix I pull together all the vinyls I've recently purchased, hit record, and start mixing - but for this one, I really wanted to showcase the hard work and passion so many producers have put into their music despite clubs being closed. Consider it a preview of what to expect from us all when the world opens up again over the next year or so."

In the summer 2015 during the Atonal Festival, the Berliner project together with the mythologic British music producer and artist Karl O’Conor aka Regis launched a limited edition release including the first music compilation curated by Regis titled ‘The Immortal Eye' with all exclusive soundtracks produced by artists of his label Downwards Records.  One year after our limited edition release, we are pleased to share the podcast Regis for Kuboraum "This Romish Man of Sin”. Regis shaped the sinergy between two really specific identities with his fine, sophisticated, severe and elegant deep techno.

After attending Esoteric last year and laying down some tunes on the Snake Pit stage, I couldn't wait to get back to the magical dusty dance floor. It's such an incredible festival with a killer vibe and mindblowing decor and visuals. 

I played alongside a stacked lineup of local legends on the thumping Bush Techno Stage on the Saturday night. Loads of chunky proggy rolling techno shenanigans plus a bootleg I made specifically to open this set.
