About 30A:
30A is currently a single and will be a part of a new concept album "Surf" inspired by time spent on the coast.  

This song is inspired by a sunset bike ride on 30A, a coastal highway on the Florida Panhandle.  We were riding our bikes into town to celebrate my daughter's birthday.  Bike rides by the ocean are one of our favorite things to do as a family activity.

"Starboard is a song that draws its inspiration from the world of sailing. The term 'starboard' is a nautical reference to the right side of a ship. As you listen to the song, imagine yourself aboard a vessel, gazing off the starboard bow, where the majestic Boston Light comes into view. This iconic lighthouse stands guard at the entrance of Boston Harbor in the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts.

My album artwork captures the essence of this maritime scene, featuring a stunning photograph of Boston Light.

"Zog Funk" captures the essence of an old factory smell, evoking vivid memories of a specific time and place. Imagine the scent of a well-worn skimboard, a unique blend of surf wax, the gritty texture of sand, and the lingering saltwater from its last adventure at the beach.

Matt Wolpers Musical Biography

With a musical journey that spans decades, Matt Wolpers has cultivated a unique and diverse sound that draws from a wide range of influences and a deep-seated passion for music. It all began with a chance encounter at five years old —a Danish exchange student that his parent’s sponsored played the piano in the families music room.  Matt was blown away be how the student played by ear. This awe-inspiring moment ignited Matt’s desire to create music that could touch hearts and resonate with audiences.

Growing up, Matt’s family played a pivotal role in shaping his musical tastes. Classical and jazz, instilled by his parents, fused seamlessly with the blues, classic rock, hard rock, punk rock, and reggae introduced by an influential uncle and older brothers. These early experiences provided the foundation for Matt’s eclectic musical style.

Formal music education played a part, too, with Matt Wolpers immersing themselves in various instruments during school, from viola and drums to the recorder and xylophone. The unwavering support of Matt's father, who shared the cost of musical instruments, allowed for the acquisition of synthesizers and drum machines—a pivotal moment in the journey towards music creation.

Collaboration and camaraderie with friends fueled Matt’s passion further. From garage bands in middle school to rock bands in high school and college, Matt’s was constantly learning, evolving, and experimenting with music. The R&B band they joined in college, performing both covers and originals, marked another significant milestone.

Matt’s musical style defies easy categorization, as his influences are as diverse as his tastes. From the haunting keyboard work of Ray Manzarek to the improvisational magic of Grateful Dead musicians, his music blends elements of blues, rock, and reggae with a touch of R&B and electronic experimentation. It's an ever-evolving soundscape where creativity knows no bounds.

The digital age ushered in new possibilities, enabling Matt to easily create and share his music with the world. SoundCloud became the canvas for Matt's musical expressions, with over twenty songs that span a lifetime of musical exploration.
