A collaborative piece written with year 6 pupils at Cowlersley over 5 sessions. The entire class contributed to the rhythms, melodies and words. The vocals were recorded in the classroom during the final session

We've been cramming in revision for our SATS
And now the tests are done the time has come for…looking back
On all the things we've done together, and all that we've achieved
And we really can't believe it…that it's almost time to leave
We'll be climbing up the ladder and hoping for success
We'll be starting with a clean slate and taking a new step
It's the…end of an era here at Cowlersley
And so it's…hello to high school, goodbye to Primary      

So say farewell to all the teachers
Say goodbye to some old friends

We've seen life in Tudor times…down at Oakwell Hall
And heard stories about ghosts who are still trapped under the floor
We've played Tudor games and tried to guess the names of artefacts
And went running round a garden maze but found our own way back
We were scientists at Royds Hall making paper into boats
Then we filled the boats with marbles t' see how long they'd stay afloat
We burned copper, aluminium, cotton wool, to name a few
We made towers we made bath bombs, and we made explosions too.

We've been to Winmarleigh Hall for a…weekend away
We learned to face the fear in front of us, and do it anyway
We did...zip wires and night lines, went on a giant swing
Went canoeing on a lake, and did a spot of abseiling
There were boots that filled with water, and tales of flooded showers
And a coach journey that seemed to last for...hours and hours
It all seemed like a crazy dream we wished would never end
Especially when you're with your…best of friends

We've sat...out on the hillside and sketched the views we saw
We picked sticks and stones up off the ground and…used them to draw
In the winter...of 2010 the snow came tumbling down
And the school was closed for weeks, we thought "well what will we do now?!"
We went sledging on the hill, we had snowmen competitions
As the cars below got stuck and gave up wasting their emissions
We made snow angels, threw snowballs made the…best of the weather
And we wished the snow could stay around forever…and ever

 We played football, we played netball and we did athletics too
We beat Crow Lane we beat Paddock, we beat Spring Grove Primary Schools
...We've entered competitions doing…African drumming
And we've ended up the winners for the… last three years running
We ran a mile for red nose day, changed clothes for 'wear it pink'
And the children dressed as teachers and the teachers dressed as kids
We made a…shoeful of money to give to Pudsey Bear
We learned every penny makes a difference to someone somewhere
