A fixture of the underground techno scene since the mid 90s, Chicago-based producer, DJ, and studio architect Matt Druid (aka Druid) has spent over three decades helping shaping electronic music culture. Emerging from the raw, high-velocity energy of the 1990s rave circuit, Druid’s legacy spans a rich history as an international performer, prolific event promoter, and recording studio owner.
With roots grounded in an extensive catalog of early mix-tapes and CD releases, his sonic identity has evolved. While his foundations were built on the aggressive textures of acid, trance, and classic Chicago house, his modern output has locked into a deep, commanding signature style: dark, driving, tribal Chicago techno.
From commanding underground warehouses in his hometown of Chicago to anchoring dancefloors across the US—including New Orleans, Kansas City, and deep across the Midwest infrastructure of Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, and beyond—Druid’s hypnotic selectors' style has also resonated internationally, capturing crowds from Mexico to Japan. Today, he remains an active force in the studio, releasing relentless, rhythm-driven techno designed strictly for the purists.
