This was the first track of a 15 song album i did in the year 2000.  it was kid of a grungy heavy tune with a catchy chorus. Though a bit long when i listen to it years later.  but was fun to perform.

Written as a Commission LOVE SONG as a gift:
 These are recipients words:
"On my birthday Susan had set up a music player and handed me a framed score of the music and words as she hit the play button. I was so surprised"...."The best present I ever received."

Susan,  who commissioned me:
 "Matteo is an extraordinarily gifted musician and songwriter. I commissioned Matteo to write and record a musical piece as a birthday present for my husband. The final product was a love song for the ages. 

 Matteo made me a partner in the creative process. He asked me to think about what I might want to say to my husband if I knew that it was the last time that I would be speaking to him. He also asked about my husband’s taste in music and was able to incorporate some special instrumentals to further personalize the piece. Matteo took our discussions and created a draft composition that he let me hear and critique. To add to the challenge, I only gave Matteo 10 days to complete the assignment. 

 The final product exceeded my every expectation. The heart felt message of love turned out to be the perfect birthday gift for the man who has everything.

This came out of a lonely space where I found that Eucharistic presence was sustaining for me. I was enamored with the scripture saturated liturgy and the Centurian that told Jesus not to come under his roof but just say the word and his servant would be healed. My prayer for the longest time was that Christ would say the word and I would be healed. And every week in communion I freeze in reflection on the profundity of those words when we say them before receiving.

I wrote the original version of this song back in 1996. My daughter, Raynah, was born to this song off an album I recorded that was playing in the background in the birthing room. This song was playing the moment she was born.  When she turned 18,  I asked her to sing  the backgeoind cocals on this with me for a new version of the song. she agreed. i was commissioned to write a piece for Tympani and ensemble many years ago for a Masters recital at Boston University. I wrote this piece using only 4 notes. rhythm is the driving force in a canon style with a wash effect above on a synth. Was played on a number of stages for performance.

i wrote this inspired by my daughters birth.  I use to speak to her through the womb and sing to her.   the day she was born she cried until she heard my voice... clear to me she recognized it.   in the midst of all the strange voices and sounds in the room. But she was able to pick the voice out she was familiar with.  Made me think about God... to some he screams and we dont hear -its a whisper we cant hear.    My prayer is that im so familiar with His voice, he just "whispers" and im right there because his whisper is like a scream.
