Now returning to Meanwhile after a trio of remixes for label head-honchos GMJ and Matter on June 2020's "Gauntlet" and February 2021's "The Path", Alex O'Rion now returns to the label with a devastating 4-track original EP of unrivalled quality.

The "Echium" title track is a blistering sub-bass monster that drives along powerfully on a bed of ticking hi-hats and chest-thumping kick. Building in momentum, smooth pads and effortless synth lines flow across the 8-minute piece before revelling in a stripped-back breakdown. Picking up the pace again in the third movement, gorgeous harmonic overtones layer delicately across each other, borne of never-ending delay sweeps.

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint rounds out the summer season by welcoming Tristan Case back to the label for his debut EP. Renowned for his dreamy yet reassuringly tough and beautifully balanced approach to deep house, UK born, Australia based artist Tristan Case has carved out a sound all his own. From his 2020 debut on Do Not Sit On The Furniture to more recent offerings via Flug Lab, onedotsixtwo and UGENIUS Music, the Sydney resident has enjoyed a three-year creative swell. Sound Avenue has also been a landing spot for Tristan's organic sounds, with a contribution to Volume Four of the imprint's popular 'Correlation' series marking his label debut in April of last year. This well received first offering would lead to 2022 remixes of Mariner + Domingo and Nopi, both of which were written in conjunction with Australian artist Tam Barlow. Now returning to the label in solo capacity once again, Tristan presents 'Aurora's Story' alongside a remix from Barry Jamieson. 

EP opener and title selection 'Aurora's Story' finds Tristan operating at the peak of his creative powers. Fuelled by emotion and groove; its warm voluptuous basslines, liquid-like rhythms and tight percussive arrangements resonate on a transcendent level. Deep and melodic across the first movement, Tristan continues his elusive ways with balmy overlays, arpeggiated fragments and panning effects creating a bridge into the main break. Sitting in a poignant yet thought provoking space, a stunning melodic narrative captivates as the interlude evolves, flowing through fluttery motifs and colourful textures as tasteful modulation spearheads a groove-centric drop and nostalgic finale.

Making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Aurora's Story' is Barry Jamieson. Born and raised in England but now based in New York, the UK artist has had a hand in some of electronic music's most revered tracks. From engineering some of Sasha's career defining productions, to remixing New Order, The Chemical Brothers, Depeche Mode, Orbital, Madonna, Seal and more, Barry has been one of the most transcendent figures in the evolution of electronic music. More recently Barry's inimitable production touch has found a home on ICONYC, Mango Alley, Proton and Replug. Now adding Sound Avenue to his resume Barry debuts on the label with a stunning rendition of 'Aurora's Story'. With a greater club sensibility, Barry takes inspiration from the original, remodeling the track into a dizzying dance floor slam. Complete with a spectacular effects narrative, hyperactive rhythms and a forest of fresh sonic details, it's an adrenalized energy-rush for the ages - one where Barry lands sounding bigger than ever.

Rounding out the release are the broken beats and earnest musicality of 'Twelveslept'. From buoyant upbeat beginnings come heartfelt themes and striking percussive arrangements which captivate leading into the break. Looking to bring greater emotional depth, Tristan reaffirms his musical prowess with heartfelt harmonics, choir-like overlays and balmy effects which play across the main break, only to be washed away in a timely fashion for a goosebump inducing conclusion. Tristan continues to impress with his Sound Avenue return, a three-track affair which continues an incredible year for the fast-rising progressive phenom.

Returning to Particles, David Leckenby's "Primal Connection" sees two superb original tracks backed by a pair of high-calibre remixes from Australian and Italian artists.

Rising to prominence in the latter half of the decade, music has been central to David Leckenby's life. With its "therapeutic and energizing" qualities, it has provided a spiritual sustenance to the Australian, while work signed to the likes of Consapevole Recordings, PHW Elements and Emotional Content Recordings has provided tangible success for Leckenby's endeavours. Returning to Particles after August 2019's "Stardust", "Primal Connection" is a typically multi-faceted offering with rich melodic layers pulsating gently against a backdrop of ticking hi-hats and heavy kick. A gloriously sustained bassline provides a spine-tingling melodic phrase and an arpeggio gently pans the left-right spectrum. Evolving gently through its swirling soundscapes, the result is a modern progressive gem. "Wanderlust" continues the strong bassline narrative of its EP partner while grooved stabs syncopate effortlessly against cool rhythmic percussion. A pitched vocal effect adds intrigue and a counterpoint melodic phrase sees Leckenby's production skill come to the fore alongside trademark textured pads.

Gavin Griffin and Matty Doyle's journey across Proton labels is unparalleled. Under their GMJ and Matter monikers, the duo has shaped the modern progressive house sound with their timeless and inspiring production work. Together they have featured heavily on Proton Music with a trio of original EPs, from 2016's "Superposition" and 2017's "Osmosis" to 2018's "Interscope". A remix of Leckenby's "Stardust" saw a debut collaborative remix on Particles as the Australian duo now return with a dazzling rework of "Primal Connection" that retains the central bassline of the original while adding a chunky melodic groove that infuses the track with dancefloor energy. Glorious new additional production material provides melodic flourishes and a spine-tingling breakdown offers a moment of joyous reflection. The result is yet another highlight in the GMJ and Matter production arsenal.

Andrea Cassino has been at the vanguard of the underground music scene since the turn of the millennium. First with production partner Alex Laben and latterly under solo guise, the Italian has been at the heart of all that is good in modern electronic music. Finding a voice with his solo work for Soundteller Records, ICONYC and Balkan Connection, supported by the likes of Sasha, Cattaneo and Warren, 2017's "Divine" EP for Proton Music was a notable highlight. Remixing the likes of Simos Tagias, Danny Lloyd and Nicolas Rada for Particles now sees Andrea Cassino provide a bouncing, bass groove-fuelled reworking of "Wanderlust" that revels in tight percussive syncopation and hypnotic prowess. A gloriously modulated arpeggio waxes and wanes, while the overarching theme of Leckenby's original cleverly infuses the remix alongside Cassino's Vangelis-esque lead line and swathe of additional production material.
